Just got around to watching Moneyball, true story about the Oakland A's baseball club in the early 80's and putting together a bunch of misfits and journeymen to make up a team, when you are way behind the financial resources of everyone else. Worth a watch, but you might not get as much out of it if you don't know much about the sport. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1210166/
I watched it a while back and enjoyed it even though I can't stand baseball, I'd hope Hill isn't trying to emulate that in football as it just wouldn't work, there are far too many variables in football to build a team based purely on performance statistics
When you look at the sort of players he has brought in, and his obsession with statistics, there are certainly similarities. Unfortunately, the only two stats that matter are goals scored and goals conceded.
the guy who jonah hill plays, has done a similar program for american football, hes testing it at collegiate level i do believe
