I wonder what effect relegation would have on the town.

Bugger all affect on the town. It's not like away fans come up here for the weekend and spend a fortune or anything.
We've been in all 4 Divisions and the town centre has still been a **** hole no matter what Division we've been in.

Pubs lose a couple of hundred maybe when no big followings. Town not exactly embraced 2nd tier this time.

Not a lot. I don't think the club has a significant enough standing in the town nowadays for it's fortunes to affect the place as a whole. Only real effect may be less money made in the pubs on a Saturday with the probable lower crowds.

Been in some shitholes of town centres in my time and Barnsleys is certainly not one of them.
Certainly not the best but far from a shithole.
Don't think it will make a great deal of difference as far as relegation goes tbh

Fewer using Prem Inn and Travelodge. Fewer eating and drinking in Tarn and surrounding areas.

We are known nationally and having a Championship club raises the profile of the town, I guess we will fall from the public eye some what.
