    It's a definite possibility, old mate, if he feels he can get better value for money. Personally, it wouldn't surprise me to see us signing players from Ireland and Scotland, again, for similar reasons.

    On a serious note, this is exactly why a manager needs a minimum of two full seasons in charge. It takes time to assemble a scouting network he can trust.

    Why would you need an unlimited amount of money? Did we not have scouts when we built the East Stand? As far as I know we had a finite source of income at that time.

    Very much doubt it.

    Seriously, a new west stand/scoreboard/hotel. Or spend our limited funds on players/scouting networks?

    We built the East Stand on a mixture of loans from the Football Trust and selling our best players. The scout network at the time had been in place for many years and was largely unpaid. Times have moved on.

    The north stand is probably more apposite. We over stretched ourselves in that and many other areas and ended up in admin.

    I'd be surprised if decent scouts were unpaid. We've also recently sold a player for what I believe is the second highest fee we have ever received. I'm fairly certain that we paid for the North Stand with the highest fee we ever received.

    Well. Knew two of them (both sadly deceased) and both worked for free though one got expenses. I think the chief scout got some cash the rest nowt other than expenses.

    In retrospect we would have been much better to bank the Ward transfer fee rather than spending it would we not as we would then not have gone into administration. As for the Stones money that's been spent on overpriced loan players. So who do you suggest we flog for say the 12 million quid we might need for ground development? Tom Kennedy?

    That is to say - these places are further away from Oakwell than say Athersley Rec.
