I didn't post it at the time, as i'm not one for posting my blog posts.. but it seems quite relevant now, at a time in which we have such uncertainty, to look at what Flicker did for us. I'll be writing up a part two to this post in the coming weeks. But for now, hope you enjoy the read! http://witsprinkles.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/ff-king-has-fallen-long-live-flicker.html
How are you going to choose a new manager if you can't refer to previous results he's obtained? You've made it quite clear that nothing prior to the start of this season counts. If last season is consigned to history and can't be referred to when debating David Flitcroft's tenure as manager, then that will also have to apply to any potential newcomer.
wont be my job to influence the choice of the new manager, all i'm saying is, in our case, yes all in the blog happened "last" season and is unfortunately being proved totally irrelevant as to what is happening "this" season.
Fair enough In that case, I'll suggest the results under David Flitcroft from last season ARE relevant with regards to being taken into account when assessing his managerial record. His record from the beginning of January to May (not selecting convenient scores & disregarding inconvenient ones) was 34 points from 21 games. This meant that not only was relegation successfully avoided, but it was achieved when it required the highest points tally in history in order to do so. The success dictated what Division we'd be playing in this season, what our budget would be and how much easier it'd be to attract potential signings to a Championship club than one from Division 1. This season, his record has been exceptionally poor, with a pitiful return of 11 points from 15 matches. Flitcroft asked for certain assurances before he'd commit to the club in the Summer. These must have been met for him to accept the position. There is no doubt any manager's position in this day and age will be called into question, as it appears very few are allowed to experience a bad run of results before the axe falls. I believe the manager deserves the time & opportunity to turn things round. Others, like yourself, think differently, which is understandable and their right. But if one of the criteria to sack Flitcroft is to claim last season is history and irrelevant to his assessment, then that must also be used when selecting any potential successor. To do anything else would be dishonest, two-faced hypocrisy.
Re: Fair enough it keeps coming back to 6 wins since February and I think 2 of those were against Middlesbro' so for me he has had the time and opportunity.
