Not sure he was ever destined to be a top flight player, but I guess that possibility was taken away from him. The FA & D'Urso rightly vilified in the article. Wish him all the best in his future career.
Whenever this rears its head it makes my bloody blood boil. I was sitting in line with the 'incident' and Morgan looked where Hume was just prior to assaulting him - if ever there was a case to be taken to a court of law, this was it
I got a good view of as well and you could clearly see Morgan look where Hume was before making the "challenge". I don't think Morgan set out to do the sort of damage he did but was certainly trying to intimidate Hume out of the game. I used to hate the Fowls most until that day and the days that followed, as the Blunts showed themselves to be the most cynical and detestable bunch in football.
Agree but our instant reaction to threaten such action did, I believe, make the FA **** themselves - if they had decided to punish him and after the red had already done so they were in effect fixing their position should it have gone to court
By effectively 'washing their hands' of the matter the FA left it wide open though for us to go to court. After all if someone deliberately elbowed you at work you'd have recourse in a court of law. Given Iain's injury I believe a very good case could have been made for assault at least. Morgan could not have used the excuse that he was using his elbows to generate leverage off the ground. He owed a duty of care to fellow professional - yes football can be a contact sport - but since when has football been elbow against head? Mistimed challenges and broken legs understandable as are clashes of heads - that challenge not.
Fully agree and I'm not sure why it never went further. Perhaps the insurance coughed up so that was that
