Don't you dare blame the maanger for that He said in his post match comments that he is totally without blame for the poor set pieces as they were good in training and presumably once the ref blew the whistle he is not allowed to change the dead ball taker so we were stuck with that all night whilst Howard, Hume etc were stood looking on. If only the manager was allowed to manage during games...
Well, I've bleated about this before but set pieces should be varied ..... if Davey can justify (pre match), that one player & one player only takes ALL the set pieces there is something very wrong. Unless Colace's set pieces in training were Ronaldo-esque every time, there is absolutely no reason for any side to not vary the set pieces.
And even if you are planning on only using one then after the third or fourth bad corner in a row you HAVE to change it. If you are unable to do so then you arent a manager
Agree with what you are saying, but surely the players have got to take some reponsibility. 11,000 people could see the lad was towing with corners, couldn't the rest of the team? Howard could have took over. He is the captain for fvcks sake.
Aye, but How do they arrive at a decision that Colace is taking all set pieces in the first place? (3 weeks ago we had Leon taking them all). Against Derby, Hume pings in the best corner seen at Oakwell in ages, and yet he's "not allowed to take one" ?? If that is what is agreed in training I don't rate Daveys numerous coaching badges.
It isnt Howard or the teams job to ignore the manager though If the manager says Colace is to take them all then at what point should the team tel the manager they refuse to listen to him?
At the point we were at last night. I understand what you're saying and I can't for the life of me understand why Davey didn't change it. But at some point the players have to take on a bit of initiative and responsibility. If the new boy was struggling with something at work you wouldn't just stand there and watch him struggle would you? Despite what the boss says. Who took them at Blackpool?
No idea who took them And I agree that at some point they have to do that but given the managers record with man management so far how long would Howard have been dropped for if he had dared to go against Davey?
Dropping one of our best for taking over corners? Surely not. If he did do that then, well, I wouldn't even know what to say. . .
You would think surely not but in all honesty Would you be surprised if Davey dropped a player for going against his decisions and taking corners when someone else had been told to? I would be surprised at most managers if they did it but would you be surprised at Davey doing it? I wouldnt
