Don't think he'll do much, that league is about his level but if he was outstanding at that level Preston would want him. Will always look out for him in his career though, for obvious reasons.
Worst signing in the history of the club. Glad to see the back of him and don't take any interest in his career now.
He wasn't the worst player by far but in terms of what we paid for him and how badly he performed he would have go to down as the worst signing for me. Plenty of crap players - not many cost £1.2m though. He was worth £500k max.
He wasn't worth that before the incident and his attitude when he came back into the squad was a disgrace. Who can forget the Forest game when his belly was hanging over his shorts?
Not his fault how much the club paid for him. The price may not have matched the ability but that's out of his hands. Can't see what attitude he had when he came back into the 1st team squad either.
I don't think he was, said it many times. But the lack of compassion and understanding you have shown for a guy recovering from a life threatening injury is staggering to be honest. You have no idea how difficult it was for him to train, how hard he found it getting back in to football. Most of us see it as amazing that he ever got back at all. You just continually berate him. The £1.2 million price tag wasn't his fault. The fact that he is still a professional footballer after having his head crushed is unbelievable and a massive credit to his depth of resources and his character.
Compassion doesn't come into it. I am talking PRE-INJURY. He was worth slightly more than a third of what was paid for him. The price tag is rarely the fault of the player but it doesn't stop a player from being poor value. I was as outraged as anyone during and after the incident. He took the decision to come back to professional football (fair play to him) but he also took the decision to carry on taking the club's money while criticising the manager who (rightly) did not select him.
All down to opinion - I thought he was just starting to show why we'd paid £1.2m for him just before the injury.
What does taking his wage have to do with it? And I can't recall any criticism of the manager. TBH I think he tried to come back too quickly. And that was motivated by a desire to repay the club and the fans for their support during his injury. In the Forest game, he was injured in the warm-up, and should have pulled out of the game. He would probably admit that now, but he wanted to get back playing. We can argue about his value, but as you admit, he didn't set it.
Compassion and price tag aside there were a lot of people on here who were criticising Hume after he came back from injury. There was a feeling that his commitment wasn't there and his attitude when picked was poor. I'm sure somebody could find the posts if they wanted but I didn't imagine them, they were there and a lot of people were criticising him and saying it was time for him to move on. As I said most, if not all fans had the utmost sympathy for him and had a lot of respect for his brave battle to get back to first team action. It was what happened after he came back and had a run of games that people started to criticise him for.
Think one of the attitude points post-injury comes from his sarcastic comment on Soccer AM when he stated his position as 'unused substitute'
