Their investment in grassroots should be the envy of the world. Of course their grassroots game is miniscule in comparison with ours so it's easy to say and a lot harder to do. Can you imagine the players this country could produce if junior teams all had access to year round playable surfaces and every 10 year old upwards received coaching from at least a UEFA B qualified coach. It's a tragedy that with a cash generating machine like the Premier League we still have kids playing under their Dad's on pitches that resemble bogs. I think Iceland have shown the way if any Country is brave enough to put that kind of investment in place.
Have a read of The Nowhere Men by Michael Calvin. You can get it on eBay relatively cheap. Eye opening look into the Scouting world. Slightly off topic, but a brilliant read nevertheless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
