Ben, no-one in their right mind is going to pay in to Oakwell to watch the so-called 'football' on show at the moment. Why not charge something daft like a quid in on the door for the next few home games, get a big crowd in who will no doubt get behind the players and see if that can motivate them into a performance. Such an initiative might get a few people back interested at a time when the club is in decline, and a few more bob will be spent inside the ground (although I'm not convinced the club benefits whether one New York Street Dog is sold or five-thousand). First thing most people say with these schemes is it's unfair on season ticket holders - I agree with that to an extent but if it's one or two matches then season ticket holders are still much better off over the course of the season and I suspect there will be a few hundred season passes going unused at the next game anyway. Do it - couple of quid on the door (max), or even cheaper when bought in advance and printed at home to encourage people to get used to the system, publicise it properly on social media and we'll get 15,000 in at least, maybe more, and the club won't lose out as those seats would just be empty.
Good idea apart from it would probably backfire. We would get 15,000 and play awful football. The extra 5,000 will never be seen again.
Other grounds do that 'pay what you can' thingy... I'd love to see folk queuing with 35p in their pocket!
No need to charge a quid when we get the ground packed the few times we charge 5-10. I'd wait until next season for these kind of offers so we benefit from stuff like the club shop being back in house.
Football for a fiver - could put a small away following in the North side of the West Stand Lower and open up the North Stand. As it stands pretty much nothing to lose.
Wonder what Ben and the board are thinking re next years season tickets , a lot won't be renewing with the present standard of football
We still wouldn't get many more than 12,000. Doesn't detract from the fact we could still play poor football. Fact is, everyone's losing interest and the only way to get people back is by performing regularly on the field. People will come and pay £20 if we're playing well
