can all the moaners spend the next two days moaning about how everyone run on the pitch after the leicester match. its flipping guarenteed to happen so get over it and at least the site wont get clogged up at 5.30 on saturday. any tekers
correct regardless of what they do i couldnt give two hoots because as soon as that whistle gets chimed i'll be hot-footing it to the walkabout (pint) lap of honour my ringpiece
RE: correct To be expected when we've achieved summat & staying up against all the odds will be as good as a promotion. Don't know why everyone is getting hot under the collar about it. It will be happening all over the country the next 2 weekends. Always has done, always will. Can't see the problem with the players appearing in the Director's box and chucking their shirts into the crowd. As long as it's enthusiastic but good natured.
still games to be played on the pitch Local area finals and a certain charity event to played this seasonon the Oakwell pitch.
Should be fun after the horses have been onchurning it uptoround upthe morons.
(NOOO)

It's called having respect and consideration for others. Anybody under 30 won't have a clue what I'm talking about.
Good job I'm 41 then Will be on the pitch in spirit only, as the old legs won't stand up to it these days. Nothing to do with disrespect and consideration; just part of celebrating a success, which staying up will have been a resounding one. Can't see the point when we haven't achieved owt, but promotions and staying up against all the odds - yes. The vast majority of supporters have stayed in their seats and clapped all season. It's fine by me if some want to be more demonstrative in the way they show their feelings after the final whistle of the final home game. I take it you weren't on the pitch on the 26th April 1997 either. I just bet you weren't!
RE: Good job I'm 41 then I was on the pitch on the 26th April 1997 - as was virtually the entire crowd!
That was a completely different kettle of fish as you well know.
This time we're talking about a few selfish numpties spoiling things for the vast majority.
And don't kid yourself it's owt to do with 'achieving' summat - the same numpties will go on every season, for no other reason than they know they shouldn't. It's an act of pure defiance, no more no less.

RE: Good job I'm 41 then So let me get this right. There's times when its ok to go on the pitch and there's times when it's not. My point is, the fact that hopefully we will have stayed up by 4.50pm on Saturday afternoon is one of those times. For me it's as big an achievement as promotion was last season. And I've already said I don't advocate pitch invasions willy nilly.
RE: Good job I'm 41 then I say again - the people who go on the pitch on Setdi will, for the most part, be doing it purely because they're ignorant and selfish and don't give a **** for the consequences.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in cloud-cuckoo land.

RE: Good job I'm 41 then Those will be the ones who would run on regardless of the situation. Course there will be some of them among the throng. Plenty more will just be cockahoop at what we've achieved. Some of us only have the energy to clap and cheer these days, but the younger element have always wanted to do more than that. The first one I can remember is the 4th Division promotion party v Grimsby in 1978/79 when Clarkie was manager. Why suddenly is it so wrong?
What about if it causes trouble? Say we beat Leicester and Leeds and Hull win, we would be ok but Leicester wouldn't necessarily, so it could cause a riot because of our fans celebrating. We find out tomorrow, I think, about what trouble we are in with the FA over the brawl with Birmingham. Should we chance being fined and losing points - maybe even being relegated because of trouble rather than points deduction for next season just because some idiots can't do as their told and stay off the pitch?
Thought there are a few Charity matches being played at Oakwell: 7th May Members of the 1996/97 promotion winning squad of Barnsley FC v Bradford City legends XI. 9th May The one for Yorkshire Air Ambulance/Macaughley (see sticky) 12th May The Big Match raising money for Sheffield Children's Hospital
From tonight's Star - PLEASE STAY OFF THE PITCH. http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/reds-news?ArticleID=2732667 Keep off the pitch Charged: Barnsley manager Simon Davey and Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce during the match on Easter Monday By Simon Meeks BARNSLEY, already with the threat of disciplinary action hanging overhead, are anxious that fans do not drop the club into deeper trouble. Supporters are being urged to stay off the pitch at full-time on Saturday, after the last home game of the season. The match will be under scrutiny by FA bosses and comes in the wake of Barnsley and Birmingham City admitting FA charges of failing to control their players following their Easter Monday match at Oakwell. The clubs have both pleaded guilty and asked for a personal hearing. A scuffle broke out between players on the final whistle on April 9 and referee Mike Russell sent off Barnsley's Bobby Hassell and Neil Danns, from Birmingham, for violent conduct. A date for the hearing has yet to be announced but it will be the second time this season Barnsley have been hauled before disciplinary bosses. The club can expect to be fined. In January, Barnsley escaped with just a reprimand after being found guilty of 'failing to ensure players conducting themselves in an orderly fashion.' That charge followed the match at Oakwell against Coventry on October 28 when players from both sides were involved in a fracas. The crowd for Saturday's crunch game with Leicester is expected to be more than 17,000. Advanced sales yesterday had topped 14,445. Barnsley can guarantee their Championship survival with a win. Likewise Leicester need three points to banish all relegation fears. n Leeds United were given a boost in their relegation fight as midfielder Alan Thompson has won his appeal for wrongful dismissal and will be available for the remainder of the season. The former England international was facing a three-match ban after being dismissed for violent conduct in the 1-0 defeat to Southampton last Saturday.
