How about the club putting scarves under the seats in the Ponty end for the fans to wave about before kick off?

Running out of ideas, feel free to chip in!

All you need for a good atmosphere is, good football from the reds. One feeds the other Or ten pints of beer or larger for all over 18's before the kick-off.

A decent backing for the reds should exist regardless of the level of the performance. Isn't that what being a supporter is all about?

Yes I agree, but you know what some fans are like, make one mistake & the player is condemned forever.

We could easily turn Oakwell into a fortress

No WE couldnt, only those on the pitch could. I've never known a fan shouting something causing the ball to deflect over the bar rather than in the back of the net

Yes WE could. There's clubs out there known for their fans and the atmosphere they create.

Whereas Oakwell is known for the complete opposite.

scares good idea, also what about big flags like u see at foreign games, also free tickets for schools ie give one side of west stand (the part no one uses) to local schools, also i know they are annoying but what about a band to get the atmosphere going

fans do play an important role in a teams performance, if your teams losing or its 0-0 and the fans are getting on the players backs , the players do get affected, if its the same but the fans are fully behind them then it gives the players the extra bit of energy to push for a win

Id take a band. I think its its a great idea.. In euros England always had less fans than the other team but we was still heard cos' of the band.

The England band just drowns out the sound of the singing especially if there's only a little group...

Everyone wants a good atmosphere but it will only ever be created by success on the pitch. Any clubs attempts at forcing atmosphere in general turn out looking a bit sad and desperate. The clubs that you mention that are known for the atmosphere and their fans, are these clubs by any chance that have had a moderate amount of success and massive followings?

You can give everyone a scarf, or a flag, or a peice of paper to hold up when they come out or maybe even a voovoozala (or however they are spelt) and a megaphone, but if you are watching tripe it won't make a slightest bit of difference. People need something to get excited about.

Oakwell is only bouncing when we play a big team and all the "fans" come out of the woodwork.

Look how many people were out to see the Olympic torch, I wish they'd make the same effort to support their local team.

You mean that free, once-in-a-lifetime event? Not in any way the same thing.

Not sure pre-pubescent screaming and rattle waving from the kids will improve atmosphere. However let more in for free.

Combo of excitement on the pitch and a bit of sauce before going in (seeing as they don't do it in the Ponty).

Interested to know how many of here a) start songs b) sing them?

I know many ST holders who just sit on their hands mouth shut for 90 mins. Thanks for cash in coffers but cheer up!
