    but people simply cant afford to move out anymore, not since the government started fleecing us for every penny and allowed too many people to move over here pushing prices up further

    LOL and I bet you are right

    My first job was in South London - house prices then were way beyond anything an average graduate could afford so I rented a room in a shared house - helping someone else pay off the mortgage. Surely people do that in South Yorkshire if they cant afford to buy outright.

    good for you! how long ago was that? these days its often more convenient for parents and children to stick together as both would be worse off without the pooling of resources to pay the bills and make ends meet.
