...surely this will have to be balanced by a big-name departure (ie Howard or Muller) in order to balance things out. Having only seen a couple of games this season, I was wondering what people would make of it if we did get rid of one of them in order to finance any Anderson deal?
There is no need to sell and absolutely no intention. the players made available for transfer are the only ones likely to leave. added to which, after the cup draw and now his mates back on loan, its even less likely Howard will leave.
Do you think Anderson will sign? I hope there's a contingency plan in place because Hassell as DM doesn't inspire me with confidence!
RE: There is no need to sell I hope you're right, and I am just speculating of course. It's just that Cryne and Shep's words of a few years ago keep coming back into my head time and time again about wanting a self-sufficient club. On current gates surely we are not breaking even (correct me if I'm wrong), plus we've got a lot of people on the wage bill who are not getting a game, some of whom I presume won't be on particularly small salaries. Therefore, something has to be done to balance things out, there's no guarantee that anyone will come in for the players that have been allowed to leave. As I've said, it's just one way of looking at it, but it seems logical that someone saleable COULD be allowed to leave in order to balance the books. Also, what's the projected revenue from the Liverpool game?
Why is it a stupid comment? Just speculating myself as to what could theoretically happen, as we cannot keep signing players ad infinitum without something happening in the other direction.
Looking doubtfull... Todays Yorkshire Posts says Barnsley have captured Derby County striker Jon Macken on a permanent basis but failed in a bid to bring Everton midfielder Anderson De Silva back to Oakwell. Manager Simon Davey wanted both players to return to the club after they impressed on loan before the New Year transfer window. But while the Rams have accepted an undisclosed six-figure fee for Macken, Everton have snubbed the offer for De Silva and the player is now likely to keep his options open until his contract expires at the end of the season.
I hope that's not true...but.... Surely if we've failed in a permanent bid, it would open the door for a loan to the end of the season. Doesn't necessarily mean he'll come to us of course, but if he's after a juicy contract someone next summer he's not doing himself any favours by playing in Everton's reserves.
If they've snubbed a perm deal, he could well come till end of season.

RE: I hope that's not true...but.... Also, if "they" snubbed a permenant deal, that at least implies that the player is not against such a move......
If he doesn't sign We're in a bit of a mess. If we were to just use the money on one player this window, it'd have to be him. I really can't see him coming, hope I'm wrong though.
if he is'nt to come to us the club should put us out of our speculative misery and tell us the deal is dead. The club are not saying anything however and as such, I wonder if things are still going on behind the scenes. I'm just clutching at straws.
