I have some information from Reverend Jacob Kaiga, who was featured on the Official BFC website last week, regarding help for his home village NKOE in Kenya. He is trying to set up several projects to help this little village grow as it is seriously underdeveloped. He would like to help set up: 1. A Church approx £16,000 2. Help the needy families by giving them a gift of life - a goat which costs around £25. 3. Starting a Training Centre as the people have little or no education - teach farming, carpentry and dressmaking. 4. A miracle - build and establish a Clinic in the village as the nearest one is miles away, is run privately and costs a fortune for any treatment. 5. A Youth Club - football club. This is why the news appeared on the website as Rev. Kaiga received some footballs from them. Laura intends buying a goat for a family using some of her Christmas money instead of a present for herself. If anyone would like to help they can contact Reverend Kaiga on (01709) 893209 or write to Reverend Jacob Kaiga The Manse 43 Thurnscoe Road Bolton-upon-Dearne Rotherham S63 8JW Thanks.
It is a meeting place To quote from the letter "The "Church" has now become the centre and the only organised group in the village. It has brought the villagers together."
So does a mosque in finsbury park but they arent necessarily a good idea. It seems a little stupid setting up a place for religion (the biggest cause of war and upset in the world) when they admit themselves they cant even afford livestock.
To paraphrase the gospels "The kingdom of god is within us all. Do not worship me with buildings of brick and stone but your hearts." For crying out loud building a church is not the answer to poverty. You can hold a sermon in a field, or on a hill top or a fishing boat. Get the clinic, a school and a workshop and plenty of goats, then get a church. If you want some old footy shirts I'm more than willing to donate. That would be an appropriate request from the BBS I think.
I agree that the priorities are mixed up I'm only quoting what is on the letter of things required for the Community to develop. As I said Laura wants and will buy a goat, if anyone else wants to do anything then use the details on the first post.
RE: Goats???? Plenty of old goats in Barnsley we could send Im sure....lol. But seriously yeah I'd be interested in doing something. If anyone gives me the full price I paid for my Leeds Fest tickets I will donate £25 of it for a goat....!
I have read the letter that mum received and I am going to try and save up when I get back from holiday and see if I can get enough to buy 2 goats. (One of them will be instead of a Christmas present from someone.)
and why do they want to complicate life with religion wed all be better off without im sure. All i ever see that it brings is war and trouble.
