They only won't sign their deals because nothing better has come along. I really rate Cranie but I get the impression as soon as something better comes along, he'll be on that boat. Just exactly the same feeling I got when we signed Shackell and when Lewin Nyatanga came in on loan. No matter if Steele signs his contract or not, there must be something behind the scenes of why he's only been offered a one year deal. The age issue was blown out of proportion but until I know the proper reason, the club should have offered him a much longer deal.
Hard to know one way or another seeing as though we know **** all abart whats offered. We may have played hardball initially then wilted under pressure in the negotiations or offered em **** and they lapped it up. Who honestly knows.
No not at all but I will congratulate the club for signing up two important players. I wouldn't say its a matter of any party being right or wrong.
Don't under-estimate fan power, Hemzilch. We have always had to lean on BFC a little bit, the internet has it's uses.
In the same way that Cranie turned down a better financial package from Leeds to sign for us in the first place because he wanted to play football? Very harsh judgement on him.
It's all part of the negotiation. Who knows what that entails. The good news is he's signed. The momentum continues to build daily, all very exciting. My only semi-concern, is whether or not all this effort sorting the retained list, is detracting from recruitment. Still think we need a new CB, RWB and striker, in addition to those retained. PS. come on Luke, get signed up lad!
I think we might need two centre backs as Cranie and hassell can over right back. Another striker. Easily get able with a month to the season starting and we can get a loan in if needed.
I'm sure we'll be after at least one Centre half. We've lost Stones, Edwards and Foster since the who could all play there. Right back has plenty of cover for me now. Sort Steele, good aerial stopper of a centre half and I think one striker and we're there. May be a case of more experienced cover for Mellis too. Although Jennings might offer that. Otherwise we're down to O'Brien and the kids of Knight and Clark
