You can't please some people - that's the impression I get reading this board. He was brought in to keep us up - hopefully that's what he's going to do! If he does that then well done and give him a chance next year to build on this!

No , I would not want him to stay.

But thats MY perogative. I dont believe that he is the man to take us onwards. Got to give him credit tonight , but he has to take the flak for the crap served up too.

Why does he have to be given time?

It doesnt work like that at Oakwell,
How many managers have we had? Davey will not last long.

    Look where it gets us!

We have had far too many managers over the last few years - we need to give people a chance

    Same as last season then??

next year when he loses a few games , the people singing his praises now will be calling for his head,
If we had spent the money we have spent on compensation to sacked managers, on players then we could be competing with Sheffield United now.

why is he making me eat Humble pie.

we will never know how we would have finished under Ritchie , but I hope we stay up but having spoken to Simon Davey in person , I think he is arrogant and rude, he should get on well with Shepherd in that respect.
I will never stop supporting Barnsley, but it doesnt mean I have to like the manager.

Well I'm glad we wont know how we would have faired under Ritchie but his 0.83 points per match is a frightening indicator that we would be nailed to the bottom of this league. You say Davey is arogant are you confusing that with confidence?

Don't think there was a major groundswell of opinion who wanted Ritchie out.

No confidence is a totally different thing.

Why do you keep spouting all that crap about points average? check the games where both mangers played against same teams, then see what the points average is.
I bet you get a different set of averages then.

    keep digging

    an example

    Barnsley 2 - 2 Plymouth

I have met him and I thought he was a determined man who admitted it was a massive step up but he was prepared to give his all to succeed for himself and for Barnsley.

    Not arrogant IMHO.

If your views diametrically oppose the man in charge you will allways see him as arrogant.

Thad niver ave got on wi Cloughy then.

I think the the points tally is the best indicator we have to go on seeing Ritchie indicated to the board he wasn't going to sign anyone, Cadamateri excepted, and his tactics were inflexible.

I don't care whether Davey is rude conceited or just confident, if he produces the goods, I'll doff my cap to him and say job done. The quality of the performances under SD, WHICH I'VE SEEN have been shocking, not a patch on the performances under AR up to the Wednesday game.

If Davey doesn't get results next season he'll be sacked by November and PC will promise 'an experienced Championship manager' again.

I hope SD does keep us up and takes us from strength to strength next season, but I'll back him anyway as I've backed every manager except Spackman and Hart... yes even Parkin.

BTW Do you now watch training under SD and if so what is so different ?I saw the Portuguese squad on TV. Their training methods are held out to be amongst the most progresive and forward in the World... what were they doing ? HEAD TENNIS to improve their skill and co ordination.

RE: No confidence is a totally different thing.

Ritchie said he wasnt going to sign players that were not any better than what we had, not the same thing as saying he didnt want to sign players.
I hope that Davey does keep us up and I will thank him for it, but 1 win does not keep us up on its own. There have been lots of crap results too, but you conveniently forget those when it suits you.
