it still wont match the way I felt inside the Mil Stadium seeing the Super Reds win their first trophy since 1912.

Having a pint with my mate last night( he's been a ST holder for umpteen years and a big big fan) posed him the question "Barnsley promoted or England to win World cup ?" now he's also quite patriotic though I thought he'd be like me and say Barnsley staight away, but I was genuinely shocked when he agonised for approx five mins before coming up with the right answer er Barnsley obviously !!!

I was really campaigning for the right decision yer know " diving cheat owen got Morgs sent off " er " this is our town and our team " you know pulling out all the stops and still he had to think about it. Shows patriotism still has its pull !!!

We also got a trophy for our promotion in 1997....although it was awarded rather belatedly when the league decided to give runners up a tropht as it seemed a little unfair that the Champions got one and the play off winners got one but 2nd placed didn't.

It really is an irrelevant question though as the 2 aren't mutually exclusive.

Somewhere on July 9th there will be fans who have both club success and their national team winning the World Cup.

I just think though about how relaxed and nonchalant I am about this World Cup, it doesn't seem to matter as much as previous ones - whether that is because I resigned myself when Rooney got injured that we had no chance or because I'm content with the glow of BFC's promotion I'm not sure……..maybe a bit of both.

I appreciate that the two aren't mutually exclusive, but it was a hypothetical excercise in decision making, a choice which is more important to you Club or Country.

Although I want England to do well, to me it's Club every time !!!
