It would be based on form at the time... and not the players name.
So today would have been:
Robbo
Richards Rio Carragher Barry
Beckham Lampard Dyer Lennon
Rooney Defoe
Ok, so Defore hasn't played, and Beckham isn't in the squad, but thats about the best 'form' team we have at this minute.

Foster Richards Dawson Terry Warnock Lennon Gerrard Hargreaves Barry Rooney Johnson Shows what I know
I'd have Gerrard before Lampard At least Gerrard plays like he'd die for the shirt. That miss yesterday from Lampard in the 1st half - awful!
my starting 11 Robinson G. Neville Terry Carragher A. Cole Beckham Gerrard Hargreaves J. Cole Owen Rooney I think that while Lampard is a very talented player, that is the best TEAM that England could field, even if it does not contain all the most talented individuals. Also think it's important that Neville stays at right back, Richards is young and inexperienced and Neville is still the best in the country. Definately need Beckham back as well, just that McLaren won't swallow his pride even if it will benefit the team.
Horn
Joyce
Chambers
Glavin
Banks
McCarthy
Evans
Parker
Aylott
McHale
Barrowclough
Sub: Riley
