When was the last time we had this much positivity around Oakwell. Not even the start of the promotion season to the premiership did we feel this good. Hopefully signs of things to come. He his loved now just as much as the manager that took us to the premiership - What a difference 5 months make
Re: Was there Yes, highest points total we've had back at this level and a general feeling we were going to finish comfortably in mid table the following season and not have a relegation struggle like in previous seasons. Remember finishing the season with a 1-0 win at home to Millwall was it?
I remember having more unused ticket stubs in my season ticket book than any season I can remember. Safe in 17th and financially crippled.
Re: I remember I thought that myth was blown out of the water when the accounts were released? With the sale of Shackell, which went on the following years accounts Robins final season made a profit.
I was ready to give up my ST before robins was sacked/resigned bored the **** out of me. I hated out time under robins.
Re: I remember You obviously attended the Ridsdale School of Accountancy, where next year's income is brought into the previous year in order to balance the books. I was another who considered giving up my season ticket because of the dour football.
Re: I remember Financially crippled?? by the bloke who more than anyone is allowed to cripple us financially. He spent what he was allowed, just like any manager would.
Re: I remember If Flicker signs, then I'll sign up for a ST. I'd imagine a fair few others would do. If they went one better and publicly backed him (funds available for players etc...) AND reduced the ST prices, I'd imagine there'd be folk flocking to Oakwell to sign up for the forthcoming campaign.
Re: I remember Not really, we made a very small loss that financial year, the accounts are there to see. Had Shackell been sold 3 weeks (he was sold on 21st June) earlier he would have gone on the season 10/11. I think its fair if were summarising what financial state Robins left the club in then his sale should be included in Robins dealings. He had gone before Hill arrived.
Re: I remember Reduce season tickets ??? - We currently have the cheapest season tickets in the league and where still not happy.
Re: I remember £335 is still a LOT of money, to a LOT of people. Especially in the Barnsley area. Irrespective of whether we are the cheapeast in the Championship - further reductions would go along way to bringing the crowds back to Oakwell, especially at this current time.
Re: I remember I think the ST prices are about right. We can't expect to compete with other teams or pay for what flicker wants if we lower the prices. I don't think significantly more would be sold if they were £30 cheaper than they are.
Re: I remember Sorry, it doesn't work like that. Robins was given a budget. He spent in excess of that budget and had to be bailed out by Cryne with fresh injections of cash. Look again at the accounts, particularly at the directors loans. At the end of the season, Robins asked for more, and Cryne said not only do you not get more, I want that money back that I was forced to put into the club to ensure it stayed up. By the way, what were you doing signing somebody with a drugs problem. By the way, Shackell is going to have to go. Robins walked rather than face the consequences of having to replace Shackell and run the club on a lower budget. It was Keith Hill who had to face the consequences of the overspending in the previous year, and it is Keith Hill who deserves credit for keeping the team up the following year when Robins walked away because he knew that he couldn't.
Re: I remember Poet....Let me get this right. You want even lower priced season tickets AND increased funds for the squad? May I ask of your whereabouts in late autumn and the winter of 2002?
