He's not a winger and he's not suited to playing up top on his own. They seem to be the only positions open to him under Keith Hill's way of playing. It was pretty much the same for the majority of the time under Robins too. Played alongside a good centre forward who could win flick ons and knock downs I reckon Haynes could be a real handful in this division. He's certainly got the pace and if he was played on the shoulder of the last defender... I thought he could strike up a good partnership with Davies, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen even if he stays.
I agree with that Jay, but he is not going to get any sort of partnership with anyone, because we are never going to play 2 up front.
think hillis sacraficing him for additional signings, club'll ev told him to get players out before any more players in. haynes is only fundraising player at club without sacraficing young talent.
If we sell Haynes... and bring in a couple of players better suited to Hill's system of playing then it will be a good bit of business. So we'll have to wait and see.
Why is he at Barnsley then anyway. If he was any good we wouldn't have him. hes been at other clubs before us and done nothing. Has every manager Played him Upfront on his own or on the wing. Or is it a fact that he was no good at the side another striker either. I think we probably have seen the best of him and he will just keep moving clubs without doing owt.
Hammill was at Barnsley. Hignett was at Barnsley. Ashley Ward was at Barnsley. Neil Redfearn Was at Barnsley. John Hendrie was at Barnsley. Andy Payton was at Barnsley. Gerry Taggart was at Barnsley. 100s of good players have played for Barnsley. I'm not necessarily comparing Haynes with those players, but the argument that he can't be any good because we've got him is ridiculous. We paid good money for him, that's why he's here.
I think he's more in the McIndoe mould of player, bimbling around with loads of hype but not really achieving what his potential says he should, as opposed to that list of proper players that you list.
WE weren't the favorites to go down when most of those joined. I was meaning more along the lines of... if hes so good why didn't he attract attention from a bigger club than ourselves. The fact that he was on the market in our price range
Good point If he doesn't go then I'd let him play as he wants to and see if his attitude improves - which lets face it, so far this season has been awful.
