i would like to see earnshaw here but it would be the same problem we always havwe of not being able to afford his wages
According to the official site We've already agreed the transfer fee with Derby, terms with Nyatanga and he'll be signing in the close season. Same with WBA re. Steele, but without a transfer fee.
RE: According to the official site Sorry about that, must have forgot, Sorry
Would like to see Earnshaw here though.

So would I, mate I think the profile of our club has risen dramatically (both domestically & internationally) due to our cup run. This will mean that we have now become a more attractive potential employer. In my opinion, Simon Davey will be able to shop in a better quality market this summer, rather than looking around in the bargain basement.
funny you should say that I was talking to a mate who's a Derby fan and who also knows Lovemore Nyatanga (his dad - what a name!). He reckons that they're already negotiating a swap deal involving us getting Nyatanga and a couple of million for Howard. Ade
Earnshaw Was chatting to a Cardiff fan before the match last Sunday who reckoned that Earnshaw is a bit of a tricky one as far as the man-management side of things goes, has a tendency to speak his mind when he disagrees with the manager's decisions. Not sure how well that would go down with Davey. As for Howard, not really sure why he'd want to go to Derby, unless they offered him a phenomenal personal package, which I can't see to be honest.
I've heard that I wouldn't want him here as there's a chance he could fall out with Davey after a couple of games, and that's big money down the drain.
I was thinking more along the lines of Earnshaw's style giving us something different to the other strikers currently at the club. Another option might well be Freddie Eastwood. I can see Macken & Odejayi still being here next season, but have my doubts whether the same can be said of Ferenczi, Christensen & Nardiello. As for Derby, I think there could well be something of a player clear out at Pride Park. The squad rebuilding would be a major job and could possibly hamper an automatic promotion push. I think Brian Howard, were he to decide to leave for pastures new, may have better options available to him.
RE: I was thinking more along the lines of Agree with your every word - was racking my brains yesterday for a striker of the type we need, and Earnshaw is definitely one that fits the bill - small and quick, able to feed off Odejayi or Macken. I'd just be wary of signing someone who is supposedly a difficult customer to handle when taking into account what seems to have happened to other players who've disagreed with Davey in some way or other. Of course, it may all just be gossip. In any case, if we were to sign him (and it's just pie in the sky at the minute anyway) or anyone else with supposed "difficulties", I'd trust Davey's judgement as far as his own ability to manage such characters goes.
I'd hope Simon Davey Concentrates more on quality than quantity this summer. If he is able to move on players who do not appear to have a future at the club (Johnson, Reid, Mossto, Christensen) as he did with Colgan, McCann & Ricketts, then that could possibly release the funds and places in the squad for the improvement in quality needed to take the club forward.
RE: I'd hope Simon Davey Yep. From what I've seen this season we're not very far away at all. I reckon a small, nippy centre forward (hopefully who can finish!), a quality right-back signed, plus Anderson Da Silva returning from injury and we've got a very good side indeed. Now we just just need to maintain the current away form!
It'd be great If, by the time next season kicks off, we have the quality & quantity of squad capable of mounting a serious play off challenge, or even better. That, I believe, is what Patrick Cryne & Gordon Sheppard said our aim would be for 2008/09 last summer. It'd also be wonderful if some of that squad were to be made up of kids coming up through the ranks (Atkinson, Butterfield, Heslop, Potter, Ferorenko for example). I'm less hopeful on that score though, unfortunately.
Quality Over Quantity This Summer I can see 8-10 players leaving and would like to see 6-8 of better quality brought in. WBA will only offer Phillips a one year contract and so they are at a deadlock. I would love someone like Kevin Phillips to be tempted here with a two year contract (and the chance to play more regular first team football). At least he wouldn't cost a transfer fee.
