and the longer he thinks about it the less likely it becomes, he needs to fetch Ian Breckin with him too.

Get shot of Kidd and O'Hanlon.

Id much prefer him to fetch John Breckin! :)

But if there is something in the rumours about Brian Kidd - What about Robins Number 1 and Brian Kidd Number 2??

And Breckin staying at Rotherham to team back up with a certain Ronnie Moore??

    Agreed....

unless the Brian Kidd rumour is also true (doubtful??). He will need to establish a team loyal to him right away and the best way is to bring your own number two with you. I bet Breckin hasn't got a get-out clause and the Millers kick up about that.

Best hopes??? Robins will rejuvenate the current team and will establish us mid-table in this season and push us on next season.

Worst fears?? I am concerned as to whether the players will be positively disposed towards Robins and whether he will be able to bring the best out of this squad. If it gets 'political,' Robins will need some good early support from the board and back-room team. If the players were to make it difficult, we might see ourselves going down before coming back up again. Either way, I am 100% confident that Robins is the man for the job, whether he works a short-term miracle, or a long-term vision, or both!!

His priority will be to talk to the players and get them on his side - could be easy, or not as the case may be!

I hope the players, accepting some degree of responsibility for Davey's fate, will not allow the same thing to continue under Robins. They seem a professional lot and professionalism is what is needed right now.

good post! Hassell's "we don't want a sergeant major coming in" didn't fill me with confidence, seems Davey may have been a bit like the support teacher at school that the class used to walk all over

    The players should respect him

I don't understand the feeling that he may not command respect from the players. If the players know their football they will know that he was a very good player, who played at the top level. Man U for years, Norwich when they were a top 3 side and winning games in Europe, Leicester in top flight and getting promoted from this division. And scoring goals regularly. He is a seasoned professional, surely they can respect that? He has played at a level that none of them will ever play at. That should be enough to get them on side, then it is up to him.

With what I can gather Davey was too well liked by the players...........

...............we need a scary tough manager................one that only has to glance at a player to mek him do as he should

Clough.........Fergusson...........the most succesfull managers have all had this ability

Liked or not they didn't put many shifts in for him. If they had, he would have still been here....
