And if he is fit, would you play him against Cov without much training/practice games with our defence or stick with Colgan for a while?

Stick With Colgan For 3/4 Games

    Tough one.

though I expect Nick to remain in goal for the coventry game at least and until he warrants dropping. I dont expect though we have chased and been patient with muller's situation for him to sit on his arse for long periods. Maybe muller will feature against the teams with a greater aerial threat??

THink that's a given if he doesn't feature earlier.

Maybe even the 2nd choice will at least get the early cup games to try and keep them keen?

    Hate chopping and changing keepers.

    Needs a settled defence.

Keep Colgan in. Give him some backing and let him have his chance. If he subsequently fails then fair enough. Replacing him with an unknown quantity doesn't give out encouraging signals.

I think you stick with Nick until he deserves to lose his place

He has the pressure of having a good keeper chomping at the bit. I think it would be unfair to drop him for Coventry.

Barnsley does not buy Muller to be a reserve for Colgan. They buy him to be first choice in goal. If otherwise, we could have bought a goalkeeper not so good as Colgan from a crappy non-league club or kept Letheren as Colgans reserve. I would never spent over 1,6+ million NOK on a goalkeeper that is only be second choise. The coming season it IS Muller who will be first choice and Colgan second.

I'm sure that's the case BUT...

My point is, I'm not sure bringing a new keeper in behind a defence without any training or pre-season is very risky.

    Had he arrived mid July

Its likely he would have been starting but it would not surprise nor disappoint me to see Colgan face coventry. I I am keen to see if Muller has been worth the wait but to go straight into the first game of the season with no training nor familiarity with the defence is a big ask. Not to forget that Colgan is a decent enough keeper to start with.

RE: I'm sure that's the case BUT...

It have worked most of the time with a new goalkeeper (exept Thorstvedt debut in Tottenham), So i would not worry to much about that. Beside, Muller is an experienced keeper. Jorganovic KAA Gent haven´t played any pre-season matches, and he played very good in the match against Moeskroen yesterday.

    You might be correct

I think Davey is brave enough to make that decision. You seem pretty confident in Muller's quality and from the limited footage I've seen of him he looks good if a little lacking in agility when it comes to reflex shot stopping which is Colgans strong point.

Do you think Muller is good enough to make it to the Premiership?

    From what you know?

    Yes..
If Muller ends up as reserve, he will most like leave, and club in CL will buy him.
