    Getting........

a fee for them two and spending the money on two more adequate midfield players would be very good business in January.

Precisely what we were saying yesterday. What is Robbie doing at the club after all these years? He hasnt progressed to be a first team regular, has no pace and looks out of shape.

His role seems to be a the type of sub that comes on and makes little or no impression on a game.

He always does well in pre-season

Every season I come away from the friendlies with the belief that this one might just be his season. He has performed well and even been a regular on the scoresheet in these games for a good couple of seasons.

But I've seen his attempts to make the step up to competitive level and I'm sorry to say he isn't good enough. He's still young and if he gets into shape, might yet improve. But we don't have the resources to hold a big squad in the hopes of improvement. Just like Tommy Wright, who showed a twinkle of promise when he first came, if he ain't good enough NOW, we can't afford to pay his wages until he is. So we need to get rid at the earliest opportunity.

Davey's already moved out Wright and McParland

With a view to permanent transfers , Wroe and Healy appear to have no future at the club after yesterday's team selection . It could well be that Davey is clearing the decks in order to bring in fresh blood . Surely the incomings will be of a higher standard than the outgoings ?

RE: He always does well in pre-season

the problem weve got is that better players wouldnt be prepared to come to Oakwell and sit on the bench every week.

To be honest, prior to yesterday, I had thought that midfield might have been his position. Given his powerful left foot I thought he could score a few goals from the edge of the box. Sadly the only box hes been near over Christmas seems to have been a selection box.

I hope there is more to follow, probably in the summer when some contracts run out. We need a major clear out of fringe players.
