I really don't understand all the negativity regarding Robins. For those who really don't want him, who do you want, and who do you really expect would want to come here. For me there must be something about him. The way he has turned the millers round. Why couldn't he do it for us. However I don't think he will come.
Curbishley. Tried, Tested at our level and above. Consumate professional. Gd CV. Gd tactical nouse n No objections to Robins per se (other than the obvious - He's not operated at Championship level) , I'm just fearful there'll be another damaging round of manager-go-round again. Curbishley would have the fans backing for far langer in the event of a crisis than would Robins.
RE: Curbishley. Tried, Tested at our level and above. Consumate professional. Gd CV. Gd tactical nou If he hasn't shown sufficient interest and commitment to apply, then we don't want him. I would only consider those that have.
Agreed. Curbs my number one pref, but can't see it Not if they are actively pursuing types like Bobbins. Chalk & cheese - can't seem them on the same shortlist
Let's be realistic. I would love him to come. But there are other jobs that have come up. Premier teams, top end champ jobs. He hasn't gone for them. Why would he come here.
I'm glad its not my decision Because its a lottery. Bringing in the likes of Jewell is no guarantee of success. I'm not saying he'd be a failure it just becomes a slightly less risky but probably hugely more expensive especially in the event of failure. The selection is just a matter of a financial risk assessment with a large slice of subjective influence. Unless its your money and you have a clear idea of the sums of money involved (salary, severance, transfer funds desired / available, compensation, cost of failure etc) then I postulate you are pissing in the wind suggesting who we should get to manage the club. Hopefully the club will balance all the factors including personal demeanor of the candidates and make a good choice. For me Robins sounds like he's got potential to give us what we want but it may be the case that there are other names in the frame.
He'd be fantastic, but just not realistic. He's only ever lived outside of london during his playing career once and not since 1984. He doesnt need to work after a long and successful premiership management career, and a hefty payoff from West Ham - which he is still getting. Why would he do the job? At 51 years of age I just dont see a move up to Barnsley as something he'd be interested in.
didn`t curbs used to play for us? if so he`ll know what it`s like up here so you can cross him off the list !!
