We have a policy now at the club of bringing in youngsters from other clubs and spending time and thus money in developing them into decent players only to find when they are something like a proper footballer they move on to other clubs. But what if we bought a few of these better youngsters ??? And this is a crunch question - if we are to go back into the Championship and survive there then obviously we must have Championship level players. So what about investing in the youngsters that we get from other clubs? For example, why aren't we offering say £1 million for Fletcher and offering him a 4 year deal. This has got to be an investment for the long term future of the club both financially and also to maintain a decent level of football say at Championship level. Obviously care has to be applied that we cherry pick the best youngsters - so the time spent on developing these players is then rewarded when they are sold on to another club. Drinkwater is a prime example of this.
Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old You've seen the accounts yes ?
Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old No - but whats that to do with it?
Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old Laughing. This has got to be a wind up?
Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old if we got a windfall from Stones we ought to do exactly that - and build a team good enough to do well in the champ and maybe to the prem. Would need to be a try before you buy so we dont end up with duds like wilkinson.
Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old You're suggesting the accounts have no implication on us spending £1m to tie a young lad to a 4 year contract. It's hilarious.
Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old Are you new to this Message Board ? Havent you seen posts on here regarding: 1) Pat Cryne saying he wont spend to buy 30 year olds 2) Has Pat Cryne got enough money to prime the pump to allow us to compete in the Championship 3) Level of football in the Championship is far higher even at clubs like Rotherham compared to the 1st Division So in conclusion - if we do go into the Championship and Pat Cryne isn't prepared to privately invest in his club, above of what the accounts say, then we will be anchored to the bottom of the league like we were the ( 8 or 9?) seasons we were there before. Its an important consideration - probably investing in the good youngsters from other clubs would be a way forward? Thank you for your enquiry to allow me to expand on it more.

Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old Great idea. Can't believe nobody at the club's thought of it.
Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old Exactly..........of course they will have thought of it So why arn't they doing it? And doesn't that answer a few questions on whether we would survive in the Championship if we got there at the end of the season?
Re: If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year old Mad as a box o frogs.
If Pat Cryne won't buy 30 year olds - what about buying some of these 18 year... Hahaha this is hilarious Firstly has this guy listened to anything Pat has said?? Second he's talking about competing in the championship in the next comment and were not even in the champ lol.... Thirdly why gamble 1 mil on one player when that could buy 10 gambles from lower league clubs which is exactly what we are doing. Pat and gang have the best philosophy we have ever had at this club and listening to him explain it makes total sense. When you look at the money difference 900k in league one to 6 mil in Champ it puts everything into perspective Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
