On the back of say signing Charlie Adam, Billy Sharp, Adam Hammil (loan) and an half decent centre half, seeing us say spend a couple of million in the process, the vast majority on here would be hailing it has a bit of shrewd , can't lose business....but after losing Muller and speculation surrounding JCR/Anderson, too many people choose to slag the lad off out of sheer impatience with our - so far - lack of signings.

I hope he doesn't read this board as his confidence will take on hell of an hammering from 99% of people who have never seen the lad kick a ball.

    Hang yer head in shame.

    Too right

Folks forming opinions, on a player who has been drafted in as a member of the SQUAD.

How many people on here have even seen the lad play?

    Give him a break.

It wouldn't be so bad if he's actually scored goals in the Conference, then he might be worth a punt.
But to sign a striker with a poor Conference record, then give him one year to make the jump up 3 divisions when he won't even have any reserve team to play in is something I can't get my head round.

    Aree to an extent.

But I can understand people concerns.

We are being linked with very few signings and all and sundry are being linked with our players. Then we sign a player who is "one to be developed" at a club with no reserve team to develop him.

I don't agree with slagging the lad off but its worrying at the minute.

    RE: Aree to an extent.

All the signs are pointing to another relegation fight at present. Signings "for the future" are not what we need now.

At the risk of sounding hypocritical...

As I know I said earlier he'd not been good when I'd seen him...

I think it's more the fact that some of our best players are getting linked away from the club and then our first signing is a Conference player.

I don't think it's a particular slight on him, just impatience at the lack of an exciting signing yet and the fact we've admitted Anderson might leave, albeit being a relatively sensible statement as every player does have their price.

Of course it hasn't, and its far to early for predictions. But I think we would all like to see a bit more POSITIVE activity.

    Real Madrid aside

How many teams have made any signings so far in close season?

    Not many.

Bit early to be pressing the panic button.

    RE: Are they?

No but the same management team are in place. Hardly inspires confidence looking at last season.
Not much being done to sell season tickets in my book what with the players being linked with moves away and no word from inside the club about who's coming in.
I appreciate that it's early days this summer and signings will be made, but Davey's record doesn't instill confidence in me that they'll be good signings.

There are a fair few signings and bids flying about though. Not many from us by the looks of things.

Of course, there will be things behind the scenes we don't know about . . . . HOPEFULLY.

and is a player allowed to even have a training session before he gets slated?

People who know nothing about the player slagging him of because he's non-league.

Yes there's every chance he won't be up to it - but at least give the lad a chance.

No-one is saying he's been brought in as our only striker .... folks need to calm down a bit.

the thing is, if jcr and anderson do go, a signing like this will have the masses baying for blood

which is kinda what's happening. i just hope when the transfer window opens on july 1st we will sign some quality players.
davey has already lost a lot of fans, this won't help him.

He was out of contract wasn't he?

So we can sign him anyway as I understand it, regardless of transfer windows.
As he is under 24, league rules state we must compensate York for costs of training and developing the player. Any fee we pay is not for the player as such as he is a free agent.

I just hope that if he does get a game in the first team and isn't up to Championship standard that it's Davey who gets all the flack and not the lad himself. He's not held a gun to anyone's head and made us sign him has he?
