and he wants to try his luck at a "big club" in the Premier league, in my opinion the club shouldn't stand in his way. But you would have thought that Anderson De Silva's experience at Everton, where he couldn't get on the bench never mind the pitch would make him think twice. Or could be the lure of mega bucks that is pulling him away if indead the rumours are true.
I think if he does go, it will be to a Lower league Premiership Team. EG WBA Stoke (Should they go up) Wigan Bolton, someone like that.
Good point but playing in a stuggling team and getting battered every week can't be a good feeling no matter how much money your on. Can it? And after seeing all the teams that are in the promotion mix this year I can't see a single one of them beating Derbys point total this year if they go up.
i think brain howard will go because he has a massive ego and it will be the fact he can say he is a premiership footballer more than the money that he will love
Genuine question ........ Is your assumption of ego based on your experience of him or just a guess. He's never struck me in interviews etc of having an inflated opinion of himself but I've been wrong about people before....
i feel that is because he loves it all, he loves the interviews and chats with people teling him how great he is, as it fuels the ego, the southampton incedent shows that he definatly has quite a high opinion of himself
Well I think it's a mixture of both. I've met him several times and he has always been great, willing to chat and hear your views, also on interviews he comes across to me as an ok guy who loves playing for Barnsley. Like you, I have been wrong about people too!
If it was true though, How do you know it was true. You hear all sorts of things about celebrities. I heard that Davey and Howard being club captain took all the pressure off the other players by doing the interviews etc on the FA Cup run.
I´ve got a feeling he´s got more potential - in a better team with better players around him. Has been forced to play too defensive at times this season, to cover up for other players. Certainly not a top 10 premiership side and he wouldn´t have the same position in the team as he has with us - but he should be able to make it
Fair point....... But I can't help thinking it would be a career mistake. On the other hand as good and as loved he was at Oakwell, I wouldnt have put any money on Neil Redfern being the Premier leagues top scoring midfielder the giddy season we had in the top flight. So what do I know.
career mistake.. you never know - do you. like most people with ambitions, he´d like to find out how far he could go - and you never know before you´ve tried... I think he could do it, and if he failed, there would be approx 22 championship clubs ready to sign him
He only has one career If given the chance of course he will try I'd certainly be knocking his lack of ambition if he would rather take the easy comfortable option with us if a prem side came in for him. Personally I dont think he is good enough to be a regular in a good prem side, but I could easily be wrong and he may step up given the chance only one way to find out though
RE: He only has one career It's all about money. He would be a great asset to any team trying to get out of the Championship. Why not Barnsley?
Of course he is a great asset to Barnsley But if he is offered the chance to play in the Prem next season I dont think its realistic to expect him to stay with us - who have at best an outside chance of promotion next season. I dont see why he would move to another Championship side though
one reason... the money I seriously doubt that we can match the sort of money some of the other championship clubs could offer him, especially those with parachute money to burn. he´s been a fantastic player for Barnsley and if we get anything between 1,5-3 million for him, it´s fantastic business as well
