with West Ham staying up too creating a 21 team premier league, what will happen to our league? Can we claim compensation firstly as ST holders that we are not going to see 23 games? and secondly as a club we will lose gate receipts from the visit of one of our closest neighbours.
cant see it happening at all and even if they won the case surely that would mean it was wrong not to have docked west ham points and then dock them now, but then they would appeal and on it would go. It wont happen it would just encourage everyone to appeal about everything.

Sheff Utd went down all they had to do was not lose at home to wigan they couldnt manage it and thats that in my book

I can't see how it would happen - it isn't about Sheff Utd being wronged and having a reprieve, it's about what punishment was given to West Ham. If they should have been deducted points, then that is what should happen and they go down to be replaced by the team that finished 2nd bottom. If it is adjudged that it was ok not to deduct points then they stay up. Any other decision would be a farce, and create havoc with the fixture list for the 2 divisions.
Who says they should have been deducted points? In much the same way as a Judge or Magistrate, the commission had a range of powers at their disposal. A Judge has the discretion to consider a Custodial Sentence, a Suspended Sentence, a fine or Community Service. Which option he goes for depends on a number of factors - whether its a first offence, an admission of guilt etc etc. The same applies to the chairman of the Commission. After taking everything into consideration, they decided a fine was appropriate. Not least in their deliberations will have been the fact that West Ham admitted to their crime in January, the Premier League didn't charge them until March, the case wasn't heard while April 27th and throughout this time the PL allowed the club to continue selecting the player. If the Crown Prosecution service had made as many **** ups as the PL have on this matter, the case would be thrown out of court.
I didn't What I said was the only way Sheff Utd whouls be allowed back in the Premier League is it it is ruled that West Ham should have been deducted points and that course of action is then taken
What would be absolutely fantastic would be... 19 in the Prem. Only two down at the end of next season. Premier League turn round to Sheff United and say 'Yes, West Ham were fielding illegal players - so we've revisited our decision and deducted them ten points, thereby relegating them. Sheffield United stay down for moaning disgracefuly and generally being pathetic about the whole situation'
Sean Bean's getting involved http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_utd/6716185.stm
So there you go then.

Seriously deluded! "The Premier League had initially told Sheffield United, who were relegated on the last day of the season, that they were wasting their time and money. But McCabe claims officials have since told the club they will regain their top-flight status if their claim is successful" Yes - the 2 aren't contradictory. If Sheff Utd are successful they would be reinstated, however there is little chance of it being successful therefore they are wasting their time and money! Asked about what that would mean to West Ham, who stayed up in 15th place while Sheffield United were relegated on goal difference after finishing on the same number of points as 17th-placed Wigan, he said: "That's conjecture. That's not my issue, that is one that has to rest firmly with the Premier League. "Our dispute is with the Premier League." The dispute is what happened with West Ham, not what happened to Sheff United! The Blades chief said having an extra team in the Premiership was a possibility. He added: "It seems a simple way of sorting things out but again that is really for the board of the Premier League to decide and opine upon." Oh yes, really simple solution that is, fitting the extra 40 games into the schedule when it would mean that every week a club would have a bye week, and costing clubs in the Championship money as they lose 2 games, and sorting out how to get the divisions back in line again next year - oh aye, really simple.
RE: Seriously deluded! He's lost the plot.
For what it's worth I thought West Ham should've been docked points - they openly admitted lying to the initial enquiry. But when all's said and done, dem blades were 10 points clear. McCabe has delusions of grandeur. Some of his posturing when dem blades looked safe has come back and bitten him on the arse.

RE: Seriously deluded! Sheffield Unitedaren't concerned with a fair and equitable Premier league/Football league - they're motvated by one thing, and one thing alone, cynical self interest. They know full well that it is far from simple to have 21 clubs in the Premier League - they just don't give a **** about anyone but themselves.
No sympathy for them whatsoever - they've seriously gone about this whole issue in the wrong way.

I hope that the Blunts get treated the same way as a red-carded player would when making a 'frivolous appeal.' League One for those scummers next season in that case!
