Is rotating on its axis, rotating around the sun, and hurtling through space. If it has a core of iron and not only creates its own magnetic field, but also is subjected to the magnetic fields of other planetary bodies and the sun. Why can’t we harness the magnetic and kinetic entry to power the world?
Dig out a compass and grab a magnet off the fridge. Let your compass find north, then bring your weak ass fridge magnet close to that compass and see how it takes influence. That's how much energy is in the earth's magnetic field. Open the window of the ISS, stick out a hand-held 1970s dayglo foil windmill and see if it turns. It won't, because there's no friction and no acceleration, so there's no energy. We may as well be at rest, because in a vacuum being at rest and travelling 99.9999% the speed of light with no acceleration is exactly the same; there's no energy in that system.
We can and we are, Wind and wave power. All driven (mostly) by radiant energy from the sun but also kinetic energy from the Earth's rotation and heat from the Earth's mantle which is magnetically generated.
Nikola Tesla.. isn't that what he was doing and those in high places didn't like it.. endless free energy.. can't be having that.
I think Noel Harrison nailed it. “The earth is like an apple spinning silently in space, like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind.” Or summat.
