and Simon Davey was sacked who would you replace him with?
There are no good managers out there who have not had a spell like we have been going through.

I don't want to change him, but... ... I want him to change his ways. Stop being so stubborn. Stop freezing people out. Stop using players in positions that they are not comfortable in. Use the WHOLE squad to full advantage. If he can't change his ways, then somebody above him needs to have a gentle word with him. I've beena people manager before, but I was always open to constructive criticism from above, and below.
I don't think he is any different from most managers. I am quite happy that he has frozen players out for breaking the Club rules. I don't think Sir Alex would have put up with the behaviour of some of our players for very long. Davey has only cleared out the rubbish.
RE: Hes not Alex Ferguson works for me ... why not try and be the best , copy the best.... you might just end up being the best...
Difference being that Alex Ferguson has millions of pounds to spend at a time, has the advantage of being at the helm of arguably the biggest club in the world that will have little or no problem attracting players, and has a production line of talent coming through the ranks because they can snatch the best young talent from all over the world. We have none of those. We have to do our homework better on players 'cos if we've paid money for them, we can't afford to freeze them out.
Hes been given money to spend and wasted it big time. Imagine SD being on this weeks apprentice; Right team alpha I gave your team leader Simon £1.5 million to build a football squad. You spent it all and with £1 million you have a player in the reserves, a player in Peru and one on the subs bench. Simon with regret, YOURE FIRED.....!
It seems to me that the bench mark for some people on here is that every single signing a manager makes must be an instant success, that spending over a million pounds on 13 players should have seen us in the playoffs, that beating Liverpool and Chelsea is no indication of any improvement, that the players, manager and other coaching staff should be on the lash frequently proving their best of mates and be telling Radio Sheffield every day that this is so, that 9,000 supporters is sufficient to maintain a Championship club because 10 years ago we were in the Second Division when shorts were short and terracing was allowed and all back office staff are numpties cos running a football club is a piece of piss. If we win on Saturday, it still wont be enough. People have made up their minds. He's not Andy Ritchie. He's not nice to all men. If Davey was to get an offer from a bigger club, there would be uproar at his lack of loyalty from the very same people that take every available opportunity to slag him off. Fickle, narrowbacked bstrds.
RE: It seems to me there would be no uproar from me if he left for a "bigger" club. thats what we all aspire to do in our careers. The uproar from me is having £1.5million to spend and wasting £1million on 3 players not to play them.
Its a complete lack of perspective that I don't understand. Give our attendances, size of the club etc then we are about where we should be, having had a fantastic season in the FA Cup. People's expectations were raised by start of the season but surely its time to get a little perspective, which hopefully will happen once the dust has settled when we stay up. Imho Davey has the making of a good manager in him. He has made mistakes, but that is to be expected. If people think every signing is going to be a success then they are living in cloud cuckoo land, no manager ever achieves this.
but to spend a quarter of the transfer budget on one player not to play him due to stubbornness is poor management. Oh and Bobby Hassell in midfield, just that. He's too pig headed for his own good at times.
As I said mate - he has made mistakes. Hassell being one of them. Myabe not so with Christensen. If he is not taking things seriously in training (I dont know if this is the case or not) then Davey is doing the correct thing in not playing him. KO works his nuts off in training every week and it would be a complete disincentive to him (and others) if Christensen got in the team. However, a mistake has been the lack of information about his refusal to play him imho.
Money how much do you think Foster, Souza, JCR and Muller are worth? we paid less than £500k for them collectively. Your figures are wrong, cos there's a break clause certain contracts that mean we dont pay anything like what you're making out. Regardless, just cos you've paid over the odds for a player doesnt mean he HAS to play every week. Christensen has iconic status it seems cos he scored once against Charlton. Forget that he looks a donkey in training, swung at thin air outside the box last time he played, but Davey's fallen out with him, the nasty man, blah blah blah.
Part of management is man management. Sitting a player on an ice bucket watching the others train is bully boy tactics.
its impossible for us to speculate really as we don't know the full ins and outs. maybe he's tried that, maybe it didn't work?
FA cup has masked what has overall been a pretty poor season.
We are in the same situation that we were 12 mths since.
SD has made some good signings in midfield and defence. He is however responsible for spending what little resources the club has on strikers who haven't cut the mustard.(execpt Macken).
This should not result in Davey being replaced as that would be a retrograde step and get us back to revolving door managers.
He should get next season at least so that he can show us how capable he is of building a sucessful championship squad.
The comparison with Alex Ferguson at Man Utd is farcical... Ferguson has won a European Cup winners cup with Aberdeen and had already proved himself. I also don't like that stlye of man management.. give mea Wenger or Jose anytime.

Heh heh. There's just one problem with your premise that looking like a donkey and swinging at thin air precludes you from being picked to play mate.
Why is it that if Davey decides he doesnt rate someone its a personal vendetta? Whats he got against Mattis?
