It might be worth knowing that the development of those sports in this region are seriously under threat. The very events programme that Hannah Cockroft went through may not happen due to lack of funding. Regional funding will be a thing of the past soon and so unless we identify sponsors or grants, the whole grass roots stuff will disappear.

    Crying shame, but a reality.

So if anyone has a few grand to spare.....

I think it is a bloody disgrace that while the funding of these athletes is under threat and the whole disability benefits sustem is under attack from this Government, the self same Government ministers have been trying to get some good face publicity by going to the Games and awarding medals. One of the best moments of these Games (for me) waas the booing of these arseholes!!!

I know that there is a small minority of cheats out there and this Government has made out that its the vast majority and people keep on believing the waffle spouted by them, including quite a few on here, but it is a disgrace that these sportsmen and women are being hounded and are losing funding.

My opinion and I dont really care if anyone else feels different!!!!

All funding is under threat Fired. It's not personal. Successive governments have spent all the money, we're in a recession. There's more pressing issues than funding disabled sportsmen & women, noble as that is.

Well aware of that. And half the problem is that the majority of funding goes to the elite with nothing to support the ones coming thru.

Also plenty of evidence to suggest that through interventions like grass roots sport for disabled people, those very same people are less likely to become costly in terms of other services . E g health, g p services, physio etc.

There's only so much money to go round, it's inevitable things like this get cut in hard times, sad as it is.
