    Match Day Report
    Barnsley v ************

Barnsley totally dominated the first period of the match. Chances came and went and Barnsley on several occasions were unlucky not to take the lead. On 21 minutes the visitors had a break away and scored against the run of play. Barnsley again pressed forward after the break but the defence of ************* stood firm. On the hour several attempts by Barnsley went begging. One attempt roled across the goal mouth and only needed a touch but unfortunatly no Barnsley player was in 10 metres of the ball. The visitors went close twice in the second half but the majority of play again fell to Barnsley.
At the final whistle Simon Davey said his team had given everything but had been unlucky in front of goal

    Final Score
    Barnsley 0 - 1 ****************

For ************* put in any team in the Championship

I posted the above post a few weeks ago.
I was reminded of it after reading todays SDs comments

obvisouly there's going to be "some of these" you tit. not every game is going to be unique, and yes we will have games where we just can't stick the ball in the net. Remember Man Utd v Portsmouth in quarter final of FA Cup? EVERY team has a bad day. lighten up, look up, and look to the future.

    COME ON YOUUUUUUUU REEEDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Seeing is believing.
    We were not second best
    we looked lively
Surprisingly, my concern was centre mid.
both Bry & Has looked limited.
    as i have said before
1st was offside and second he will never score one like it again (freak)

    Yes, No, well Maybe

Yes, SD is still the best manager in the league
What I am saying here is this..............we were short of two strikers in case Macken and Hume were injured or suspended.
We have picked another striker up but again the player comes with the 'potential' tag, he may not be the finished article.
We need a striker or strikers with guile in the Kev Phillips mold...........i.e. coming to the end of their career that have the ability to unlock defences.
Someone like Dwight York would be a good aquisition

I do beleive without such a player we will huff and puff like we did today and not get very far

Brian Howard could be that player but I dont think he's intelligent enough

Howard is a good player but he often gets sucked in to running round the field with the rest of the players like a headless chicken

He needs to understand that he is better than most on the field and thus he has that extra time, that extra second or two on the ball to look up and make something happen
