    ......with a strong starting line up, they might as well disband the national team.

    I suppose that would at least save us the moral dilemma of deciding whether to play in Russia 2018 or Qatar 2022 (in the unlikely event we qualify)!

    Our dedication to the national team is less than half hearted. It is token. The only thing that counts in English football is the Premier League cash cow. No question about it.

    The national team don't spend enough time training or playing together and usually we send a squad to a major championship with our best players carrying injuries and worrying whether they'll be even able to play.

    If it doesn't matter to the FA, I can't see how or why it should matter to me.

    'England' has always been a London side anyway. **** 'em.

    Fair comments, BRF. And that's before we get on to the value (if any) of playing in any games organised under the banner of the moribund FIFA.

    If I were a fan of a Premiership team (which I was, for one glorious year) I'd be keener on my side doing OK than the national side prospering.
