what's the 4 day game got to do with this? yes 4 day is 'proper' cricket but if you are going to play a game especially any against Lancashire at least give it a go

 

They've left out a few players and thats what it's got to do with the county championship.

 

It is our second team, virtually though. Root, Gale, Jaques, Bairstow, Miller, Starc, Bresnan and Ashraf missing from last year's first choice. Brooks, Lees and Patterson also resting for the proper cricket.

sorry don't totally agree, yes it was a weakened side but not as bad as being made out because we can forget about the England lads for most games for the foreseeable future so they need to be covered anyway. My point was though that if I had paid good money to travel to Old Trafford to watch that I wouldn't have been happy. Pretty much no aggression from even the regular batsmen and established bowlers getting totally hammered on the same pitch. Yes cricket throws up some weird results but losing with that many overs to spare is poor

 

Yorkshire don't have an explosive batsman, save for Ballance, as they haven't invested in an overseas signing like most other clubs. You'll see that we've been in the 120-130 run range for most games this season which isn't enough these days. Last season, Miller alone would've added another 30-40 runs to that total.

We've effectively written the CB40 (playing the 2nd team) and the T20 off, which would be fine if it wasn't so embarrassing to watch on TV.

 

Poor one day form and playing below strength team is producing poor attendances.
