If rumours are correct....(which is a big - IF)
Then Shay Given is worth £8 Million and Muller is worth £3.5 Million
Now I recognise that Given is one of the best, if not the best goalkeeper in the Premeirship
And of course Muller has no Premeirship experience
    BUT
If we sell Muller at £3.5 Million in the current valuations of players I think we will be giving him away at that price
A more realistic figure would be £5 to £6 Million if you take current valuations into account and realising Muller has no Premeirship experience

I hope we are not going to follow the resent trend of giving our players away

I think £3.5m for Muller would be an amazing price if Given goes for £8m

RE: If Muller was English and he got a transfer into the Premeirship............

well if hes better than every english goalkeeper why isnt he playing for Germany at any level because

Robert Green is as good as Tim Weise
David James is as good as Rene Adler
Scott Carson is as good as Timo Hilderbrand

and all those German Goalkeepers have played for there country as have the 3 English

Why isnt Heinz been called up?

and dont say because hes playing for us, if he was good enough to be called up he would be.

    I do rate Muller

    as a Championship keeper

He's unproven at a higher level, and my point is that Given is at least twice as good hence my comment about the value.

£2m would be a fair price in my opinion for Muller, I certainly don't think that £3.5m would be "giving him away", particularly in the current financial climate

    Wooh, Wooh, Wooh!!!!!!!

Dont get taken in by all the Media hype/Agent ******** - if Muller's worth 3.5 then I'll eat my hat! Muller cannot hold a light to Given, Muller is worth 750k-1m maximum. If some mug offered 3.5 I'd snatch their hand off but sadly - THEY WONT!

As for Given's value, I'd want no less than 10m if I were Newcastle, he is the most consistant keeper in Premier League history and still going strong. With a decent back four in front of him he could be one of the best in the world.

I think Mullers valuation suffered that night at Ipswich when there was an extra media present along with representatives of Prem clubs there to see young Lazarus make history.

    £3.5 is a damn good price for a Championship 30 year-old keeper....i

but it is all media speculation unless someone puts in a bid. Scouts watch and report on loads of players. The clubs consider the reports and some managers watch players in person. One deal then sparks off a merry-go-round and some of the rumoured deals happen, but others don't, as players higher up a clubs list are snapped up first.

If James leaves Pompey, Muller may be a player they have looked at as a replacement, but he might not be top of the list and they have Ashdown as stand-in.

I would take £3.5 million for a Championship keeper of Muller's age and I bet Muller would relish the idea of playing in the Premiership, even if mostly reserves at this stage in his career. I wouldn't be surprised if there is something to this effect still written in his contract.

    Rumours about Muller

Neither he or his agent are aware of any real interest or offers. Obviously that's not to say the club haven't had enquiries.

I would be chuffed if we got 3.5m for him. To compare him to Given is madness. Given is a proven World class goalkeeper, Muller is a goalkeeper who has been a professional for nearly 15 years and not played at the top level. I would value him at about 1m-1.5m and we could maybe get up to 2m depending on who is buying and how much they want him. I am not sure he is good enough to hold a regular 1st team place at the top level. If he went to Portsmouth then Ashdown would give him plenty of competition. I reckon a fairer comparison is Mike Pollitt.

General opinion on here is that Muller is worth £1 M.......while Given is worth £8 M........so......

...........according to that calculation Given is EIGHT times better than Muller

If Given is EIGHT times better than Muller..............why does Newcastle United always have 4 defenders on the field of play during a match (dunno)

If a goalkeeper is EIGHT times better than Muller then surely these defenders are not required (dunno)
If I was the Newcastle United manager and I had a goalkeeper EIGHT times better than Muller I would say to the out field players dunt bother coming back to defend as soon as our goalkeeper saves their shot and gets the ball I want all 10 of yer stood in and around their 18 yard box

I have said this, if Given is worth £8 Million then Muller is worth between £5 and £6 Million taking into account Mullers inexperience in the Premeirship

FFS.........some Barnsley fans have a real downer on their own players
Muller is the best player Barnsley FC have had since Craig Hignett

Muller is worth whatever any team is willing to pay, which I imagine is

    about £1m

What the heck are you on about?

"Why do Newcastle have 4 defenders on the field" - What a stupid statement.

And who has a downer on Barnsley players? Nobody has slated Muller, we just aren't so blinkered to think we have among the best players in the country!
