if we win then those matches should give results (if form is owt to go by) and propel us up the table, and out of the drop zone

    HOWEVER

A Draw or a Loss and we remain rock bottom, its High Noon Simon.

you know exactly what I am saying, Simons time is starting to get low

and those 4 fixtures are at the same end of the table as we are and no matter what they result in then should we win it would take us out of the drop zone and boost confidences everywhere....but if you want to be a chuff thats fine.

It's not just the fact the season is only 4 games old, it is the tactics played in those 4 games. Too many players out of position & lack of pace in defence will only get worse and we can't afford teams to break away so early in the season.
4 games into the season and we already have a big issue with injuries and suspensions. We shouldn't even be talking about that because a good pre-season in the transfer market would have avoided that. Instead we had to gamble on a player that can't get in a very poor Derby team.

Would those tactics still be employed if we had a full squad? nt

To be honest i wasn't that happy with the signings but I still feel a fully fit squad is good enough although I still think another striker and left back are needed

The point is you can't use the excuse of not having a full squad after 4 games. The whole point of pre-season is to sort that out and bring players in.
He brought 5 players in and we are still short in places.

Why can't you say that about a full squad?

We had eight players missing for the last game- whoever you are missing eight players will have an effect on your team

    Another striker?

We've already got 5, which is one too many as far as I'm concerned, and you want another? What will 6 strikers do that 5 can't?

We lost against QPR and Coventry last year

and Birmingham have a strong squad - can't see where they would have come from in those games. Can see us getting something from Derby though

SD knew about Muller, Silva, Coulson and Colace before the season started.
The point I am trying to make is that he made the comment that he was happy with the squad and would go into the season with what he had. A few games in and we are already impacted with suspensions & injuries. Players playing out of position, etc.

We can't keep funding more and more strikers

We can't afford the wages never mind the transfer fees. All five strikers on the books are Davey's signings. There's no reason to think his next striker signing will be any better than his last. If he wants to buy another he's got to move one out first.

and my point is that football is unpredictable

As for Colace - nobody can predicted it would have taken this long for a visa

RE: We lost against QPR and Coventry last year

But how come when the likes of myself quote stats from last season we are told by others on here that last season is not relevant to this and we should start a clean slate for this season as the parameters change each season.

Therefore the fact we lost against QPR and Coventry last season is surely irrelevant?

Football is unpredictable. But that's why clubs employ managers. To guide the team and prepare for a long hard season ahead.

SD hasn't done that too well so far.

It's got to count for something .. look at our long term records against those clubs as well

QPR and Coventry have got to be two of our bogey teams
