I like the way you put a 'get out' clause in there. If we sign a left back. Makes it a bit of a waste of a post really.
A naturally left footed defensively minded left back. Bonus if he's played at Championship level before. A loan signing will do. Im not greedy.
Only if we play more attacking football I agree we have the midfield and front men now,Halfredsson in particular looks as though he is going to be a great signing, but we have to put more effort in to scoring goals,Leicester didn't look as good in attack as Wednesday or Preston,or as good in defence as Coventry, very disappointed in SD playing one up front,if we had gone to win rather than try and sneak a draw,I think we would have come away with all 3 points(how many times did that happen last season?),Davey has fetched us in some good players but seems to be wasting them with pretty negative tactics, with this squad Ritchie would have had us flying by now, unfortunately he was incapable of making the signings,a Ritchie/Davey hybrid would probably make a good manager.
imho we're one player short of a top half team Add Redfearn or Hendrie or Hignett or Glavin to this team and we'd piss the top half. But we need that sort of talisman to give us the spark. Without a player like that we're just too flat, too ordinary.
Im hopeful one will emerge, from the new signings or maybe Hume, there's enough quality now, they just need some confidence that a winning streak can bring. We need to scramble a win or 2 somehow, doesnt need to be pretty, a goal or two for Hume and Gray and we might see a different side. The one worry for me is the form of Foster, Davey has said with him in the side, we dont lose. He looks a shadow of the player from last season, and I never thought I'd say this but I reckon pushing him out to right back for a game or two would help him recover some form.
I'll have a crate of whatever S.M. is drinking I'd love to believe you but we are a long way off top half.
You're right - we're not far off a top half team. All we need now is ...a top half manager. Face it, Davey doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to match day.
