For long periods during that match we played as though we were the away team - backs to the wall And this is against a Millwall team that is in free fall If I were a Millwall fan at the match I would have left the ground very disappointed that we didn't get a point. Steele...........as per usual, great shot stopper but other than that he aint good enough.........he dosent dominate the penalty box and the guy just cannot kick the ball so has now adopted to throw. Defence.........looking better DingDong............excellent and probably MOTM But other than DingDong the rest of the midfield just struggled..........resulting in very few chances made for the strikers............hence both the strikers had very little to do. Things looked better when there were 5 across midfield. Very disappointed..........ok its a win and 3 points............but we need to pick things because against any team with a bit more quality we would have lost. On a brighter note - a few wins should pull us clear of relegation...........last season all around us were winning...........strangely this season all around us are losing
Strange, didn't most around us win yesterday ? And last week ? I know where you are coming from in parts, we were indeed short on confidence even after the goal went in. But at other times we looked more organised than at any time in the last two years. So maybe adjust your view and turn it into a bit more glass half full kinda post ? You admitted the defence was good, and you praised the midfield (I agree about Frimps). In my view, if we BUILD ON yesterday, we are anything but fooked. 10% more to our game yesterday and we'd have murdered them. And that 10% would have been St Paddy ! !
If we continue to play like we did against Millwall.......then we are FOOOKED... Ding Dong? Really? Jesus that's bad. We've played decent & lost plenty if games so it was good to see us win ugly. It was interesting that we looked better with a 5 man midfield with Jennings & Shea on the wings & O'Brien in the no. 10 role, maybe we'll go with that next game
Re: If we continue to play like we did against Millwall.......then we are FOOOKED... His name is Emanuel Frimpong. Grow up.
If we continue like we did against Millwall.....then we are STAYING UP !!! Cos we won and if we win every game we stay up simple enough for you NUDGER !!
Agree with much of what you say, apart from Millwall should feel disappointed they didn't come away with any thing. Awful side, worse than us. We did our best to help them with so many stray passes that weren't even under pressure, but it's Millwall that are truely "foooked"
No, Donny worst side to visit oakwell by a country mile. Not 1 shot on target and we missed 4 or 5 great chances and even missed a penalty. I agree we deserved all three points.
I don't understand why people wanted Paddy on. Had we done so and we'd have conceded, people would have gone nuts asking why we didn't bring on someone more defensive to sure things up. That doesn't change the fact we won, so empty hypothesis of what could have gone wrong are just that.
I felt very deflated after yesterday thought it was quite embarrassing clinging on for dear life refusing to rapt tack against such a terrible team.
I'm of the opinion that bringing Paddy on with his reputation takes 2 opposition players out as they ought to double up on him. Giving that extra man anyway?!? I think his sheer presence would alter the oppositions formation wether he creates anything or not!
Correct when playing so deep we were in need of s player who could keep the ball, with Millwall pushing forward it was ideal for Paddy. If not Paddy, Cykwa as O'Shea has the heart of Audley Harrison. Steele was my vote for man of the match. 2 class saves plus did well with a few others.
in the players defence they were nervous yesterday as were the fans everyone walking into the ground on saturday were murmering that it was a must win and nothing else will do. millwall to a degree had nothing to lose being the away side and set off aided and abetted by a nervous reds side with all guns blazing but their lack of quality showed imo. thought we handled their attacks well tbf but got a bit nervous towards the end when our numerous attacking forays didn't reap any reward so decided to shut up shop as they didn't really trouble us in the last third. i for one didn't read anything into how we will cope to end of season as that game was just all about winning whatever the performance.
Admittedly it wasn't polished performance but we won, and should have won comfortably... On another day a more confident COG and Jennings would have put away their chances... To make it 4-0.... Thought we defended well, we won midfield battle and restricted them to few chances. Steele make 2 good saves but was rarely tested. In the second half holloway did his usual and went threw on extra attackers and went gun-ho... Wilson responded and changed formation to 4-5-1... Wilson 1 - 0 Holloway Millwall have worst defence in this league and it's clear to see why they are where they are. Since Wilson took over we have stopped leaking goals for fun (it was 4s and 5s under flicker), performances have improved and had we had more luck in games. The losses could have been draws, and draws turn to wins. Yesterday was a big game! We won. That will be a huge confidence boost for the team and if performance and confidence continue to improve our luck will turn and points will come.
Steele had a couple of moments of hesitance but when he was called on to make a save he didn't let us down. All things considered I think he had a good game. Jimbo was my MoM.
