I have no idea of the terms that Danny has signed up to. I would hope he would stay without being pushed. He really has been lumbered with a poor squad of players and it will take an amount of money to rectify this - what that amount is I certainly can't work out. Will Danny get some monetary backing or will he be in a situation similar to Robins where he feels he can't achieve under any financial constraints? I am sure he knows that this is one hell of a struggle he has signed up for and I would hope he would want to see it through - either stay up and push on or go down and get us back.
When. Hopefully he was offered either a 6 month contract so both parties can chalk **** on it if we go down or at least an 18 month contract with the stipulation when we do go down he has time to get us back up
we're only 5 points off safety, we're certainly not down yet! Danny hasn't even signed a feckin player
I'd like to think Danny will staying which ever division we're in next season. Don't write us off yet though it's not even January!! Keep the faith.
I have a gut feeling... (Big Gut too) that a structural change will result in Danny being a director of Football and MM will be manager come June...
True it's just a gut feel. However I do think it's odd he's been retained with dw not bringing in his own members
Yes I don't really get the Mellon situation, especially after having three games in charge. Hopefully it's simply a case of continuity, with Wilson possibly not having a regular assistant, Mellon could help smooth the transition. Problem is, a smooth transition is not what we need, it's a sharp break from the Hillcroft tenures and a new start. To me, Mellon is too much of a reminder of the past and one wonders if players may have confused loyalties regarding Wilson and Mellon.
Or me. If Danny Wilson is forced out after 6 months, against the wishes of the majority of supporters, then that would be me done next season I reckon.
Wilson's contract is until the end of the season, if we go down and form is barely any different to Flitcroft's then I think the fans will make the decision for the board to be honest.
I reckon it depends what happens in the transfer window. If Danny is able to change our personnel and the performances don't improve, then people are going to be getting on his back. If we're stuck with what we have, he can't really be blamed can he? It's not his fault we have players that are getting the basics wrong. Hopefully we'll be sticking with him whatever league we're in next season!
Disagree completely. We could hardly win a single game for the rest of the season and I still wouldn't see that as DW's fault. He has been left with half a season to try and turn a team around that is widely thought to be the worst crock of **** we have seen in a generation and whose confidence is lower than a snakes belly and I think that is a very tall ask. Particularly as I think he will have limited ability to change the personnel in January. His success in his second stint, in my opinion, is not tied to his ability to keep us up. I will not be calling for his head if we go down. I see DW as the best man to turn the ship around in the medium to long term and hope and believe that most right thinking supporters feel the same way. If the club get rid of DW in the summer if we are relegated then I think I would seriously struggle to give a **** any more. If that sacking is due to the fans calling for his head then all the more reason to chalk **** on it because football, and the short termism used by both fans and clubs would then really have gone too far.
The fans will be more patient with Danny than anyone else we could have appointed, but say we don't even double our points tally by the end of the season could you honestly say your faith is with him? It depends if he's given any freedom in the transfer market I suppose, if the squad barely looks any different by the end of January then I suppose you can't blame him too much although I'm expecting big changes within the first week of January, there's too much emphasis on deadline day, we need changes ASAP, just different players to get behind who are keen to impress, not expecting box office names or anything.
Yes. He will have very little in all likelihood. The problem is moving on the players who we want rid of - we can't just sack 'em cos they are ****, much as we would want to - they are under contract. We have to find others clubs who want them, and given that we think they are gash, that is not going to be easy. The only other alternative is to keep the gash and just add more and more players to the squad regardless. We can't afford to do that. Particularly as we would need to build a new dressing room to put them all in. We'd have so many they would have to attend training in shifts!!
