and its a big if, I would fear the worst because I think we would come straight back down. At the moment we rather remiend me of Watford the other season, I would rather us not go up at all for a couple of years because I could'nt take another solitary season in the premier league and go through another 10 years of what we have been through(as thats what seems happens to yorkshire clubs).

Hope we do. £50m would sort finances, and buy ground back from the council and PC.

You being serious? I can't see any fan seriously hoping we don't go up this season. Even if it's for a season, it would be better than nothing at all. If we go back down I would have full faith in the board that money problems wouldn't come our way and that lessons will have been learned from the past.

I've asked myself his question a number of times since the start of the season and each time I think different.

Part of me wouldn't want us to go up because of the long term risks, impact of getting hammered week in / week out Then the other part thinks that we have the right board to cut out some of these risks (I.e. wage cap, non extreme transfers).

I think you would get an interesting split in fans views on this.

I know we've got some very good points in the last two weeks and we're playing alot better BUT I think you're going a bit over the top talking about the premiership just yet.

Maybe near the end of the season, yes, but after just 7 games??

I think anyone who doesn't want to go up

    is off their ******* head.

Not that it matters, we won't get promoted this season.

:D :$ :$ It's a funny ole world init. Talking now about promotion after 7 games. A few weeks ago people were saying that Davey as brought in some journeymen, not good enough and can't see where the points will come from.
Now arise Sir Simon Davey, lord protector of Oakwell the man who would be king to all the Barnsley faithfull. This Angel who as been sent from heaven to sooth the baying crowd from total anarchy. Seven points from the last three matches as silenced the possee of hangmen and the King sits on on his shiny leather throne at Barnsley, and everyone, including Shep as to bow and call him master.
Two defeats on the bounce and the king is dead, long live the king. Funny ole game football init. :)

It's a shame we weren't managed like this a few years ago...

There's too many teams with too much money to throw around, for us to have any chance of going up. We may flirt with the play offs at best, but realistically I don't think we have a hope in hell.

If we'd spent wisely a few years ago (like we SEEMINGLY have now), I think we'd definitely have a chance. But when you've got the likes of the three relegated clubs spending a few million on a player and others doing similar, it'd take a ridiculous season.

    IF we did go up.

get cash, buy everything back groundwise, buy a few players.. when we come back down (Watford, Derby-esque) sell those players we bought, cash back, nice little kitty for a championship team.

    :)

You're getting years ahead of yourself mate

    Football hysteria is hilarious...

One minute we're going down, the next we might go up.

    Proper lol.

    We'll finish somewhere between 10th and 18th I'd imagine, hopefully nearer 10th.

Now that I've re-stritched my sides

I think the chances of us going up this season are close to zero - better than Washdays but still too small to contemplate but if we did manage to gell as a team and gain promotion it would say 2 things
    1. The players we currenly have are better than we dared hope
    2. Simon Davey is a seriously good manager

We then have 2 options - give the players a chance - worst case we come back down but £50 million better off so all debts cleared etc etc - and we can do a Watford - they havent collapsed this season yet
or Simon can have another go at the unspotted foreign players in the way Big Sam did at Bolton and have a real go at staying up. But even if we go for option 1 are you really saying you dont want to see Premiership sides coming to Oakwell on a regular basis.

See how many Derby fans are wishing they were still playing the likes of us scunny etc etc

They should amalgomate the Premier and Championship

Have 44 teams but each team only plays eachother once so it's pot luck whether you get that team home and away.

Obviously will never happen but it is the only way we will get the top teams coming down to oakwell every week.

We have 11 points so far, final total will be somewhere in the region of 65 i would say - probably a good 30 points short of what is required for promotion.

the playoffs are achievable on anything between 70 and 90 pts.........

depending on the strength of the division-my guess this year is about 78pts
