If we get relegated (god forbid), sack Ritchie?

Are Crewe any worse off for standing by Dario Gradi all these years?

They are League one where we will be if we stick with Ritchie! do you think their fans are ecstatic about that?

Well I can remember them as (old) Division 4 nonentities, so given that Gradi has kept them bobbing between Divisions 2 and 3 for the last 17 years - with a lot of that time in Div 2 (Championship) - I think if I were a Crewe fan I'd be more than happy. They've definitely punched above their weight during his tenure.

I've seen Tarn in all 4 Divisions and damn near go bust twice, so I'm happy to have a club to support whatever the level. Football is cyclical, full of ups and downs. You have to learn to ride with the downs, and make the most of the ups.

No but where would they be if they didn't have Dario ? where Bury are or Macelsfield ?

WHAT IF? What if they had sacked Dario Gradi after a couple of seasons and appointed someone else. They might have been in the Premiership for the last 15 years and played in Europe.

Look who Dario Gradi brought through the ranks as well

David Platt, Geoff Thomas, Ashley Ward, Craig Hignett, Rob Jones, Robbie Savage, Rob Hulse, Dean Ashton. How many other small town clubs have brought talent through like that?

Not much point in getting promoted and then the manager and chairman sitting back on their laurels and allowing the club to drop back where they came from.

I'll play ball again. You already said you don't know who to replace Ritchie with so, what changes would you make within the club and how would you finance them ?

You can't even begin to compare Crewe with Wigan.

Let me give you a clue - Dave Whelan; millions of pounds.

I'd say appointing ***** ones is the main cause

coupled with them signing equally ***** players. And not sacking said ***** managers much quicker.

The excuse of no finances is a feeble one and getting tedious! So as long as Shep sits there and says sorry we have no money you will be content for the slide to continue and as long as you have BFC to support you will be happy to watch them in the Conference North and lower and lower as each season unfolds. "Cant be helped! We have no money!"
70 odd teams must be in the same boat infact most of them are worse off because they are in far more debt than BFC are, many of them with lower gates and no PC who is reported as saying he will make money available for the right player! Shep is fixated with self survival and breaking even - but football is not like other businesses it doesnt work like that. The chairmans main job is to find finances and provide the tools for the manager to work with. Unfortunately we are not sure if this is happening or not. If Shep/PC are making funds available and Ritchie is not using them then Ritchie has to go. If there are no funds being made available then we need a chairman who has the ability to attract investment to the club. It is this uncertainty about every aspect of BFC that is causing people to stay away in droves! If people could see some passion for the club from the directors and positivity and moves to take the club forward they would find the cash to come to matches. All we hear is doom and gloom and thats what creates the DOOM mongers on here, we are not all born naturaly optimistic. One example of the lack of passion at the top is that the Chairman cant even be bothered to write in every programme "only when he has something significant to say" he should have something significant every week!!

What if...

the funds being made available are for players that AR does not want?

Scenario for you (fictional)

Man 1: Now then Andy, how about signing Neil Shipperley?
Man 2: Oooh, I don't think we can afford his wages
Man 1: That's okay, I'll pay them.
Andy: Thanks but no thanks, I don't think he would be right for us.

Story is that AR does not want to spend what he is offered. He quite clearly wants to bring players in ie Constantine, McLeaod, but has been unable to do so for whatever reason so far

What you have posted doesn't answer my question, what do you suggest ? It's easy to critisise, far more difficult to improve things. What would you do to finance the £5.3m deficit and to attract alternative investment and would this put the club further into debt. Much as you may find the 'no money' excuse feeble it is the position however unpalatable it is to you (and me, for what it is worth).
