We'll have stayed up despite failing to win any of our last 9 games, and with 9 games to play we were 2 points outside the bottom 3. We will be able to thank the ineptness of the bottom 3 for keeping us afloat rather than any major credit to us. Personally I think we will get the point we need but we must then have a real think about where we go from here.
We will lose at |Plymouth mate ..make no bones about it we have it in our hands to stay up...and have done every dammed week for a while...and that simple **** Davey has constantly thrown it down the tubes....we will be Alehouse fotball next season...mark my words
To be honest we pretty much have done this for the last 2 years! Was it norwich or ipswich that scored against leeds to relegate them? when we were losing to Leicester at home.
Re: It was Ipswich with about a minute left. I still think we will get away with it again. It's no guarentee that Norwich will win at Charlton, I don't think they're much better than they are.
I pointed that out further down. That and the fact that we haven't won since March, and have only won three since Christmas! On that form we deserve to be long gone.
I've just read your post pointing out the same thing. You're right, 3 wins since Xmas. We should be long gone and so should the manager. A point at Plymouth papers over no cracks for me.
we get what we deserve over 46 games rather than picking the ones we want to include. If we get more points than 3 other teams we deserve to stay up.
Norwich actually deserve shooting if they can't finish above us. Just been on their message boards, their fans reckon they won't even beat Charlton anyway, sound pretty depressed. Convinced they won't be back for a good few years as well. In fact, it's pretty similar to what it's like on here most of the time!
Yep i made this point after the wolves game too http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=140195&posts=4#M935388
RE: we get what we deserve over 46 games But only by default due to the other teams being so woefully inept that they couldn't finish above us.
It's not worth it mate, some people will always want to see the worst. I personally think with the players at Davey's disposal, we should be punching a lot higher up than we are currently - and had it not been for Davey's pig-headedness in persisting with a formation with no width, i'm quite sure he could have been thew one to lead us there. Unfortunately it's been too long now and don't think he's willing to change. I know he has over the last 2/3 games, but I feel that if we start the season with him in charge, he will class it as another 46 game stab at trying to force it to work.
Honestly mate, I don't want to see the worst. Obviously following the team from afar I can never get as full a picture as I would like. If I based my opinions on just the games I'd seen this season I'd assume that we were quite good. Last games I was at were Preston and West Ham over xmas, during which we played some great stuff. That's what makes it all the more frustrating to see us splutterng over the finish line like this - I honestly believe that with the players we have we're capable of far, far better, so something is going wrong somewhere. And as for our league record in 2009, three wins, and no wins in the last eight with so many points given away in the last five minutes tells its own story.
