How should we approach the rest of the game? Park the bus or keep attacking?

Preston had a lot of success parking the bus last season and of course we got the great results at Rochdale and Sheffield United last season by using this tactic.

Interesting one. I'd always say keep attacking but it's difficult to get the right balance. It's ok to play defensively as long as we don't drop too deep

That's the key for me. Go defensive, get men behind the ball but continue to press rather than letting them come at you.

    Keep Attacking.

Too many times over recent seasons have we not capitalized when taking the lead resulting in the opposition coming back into a game when a more positive attitude would have put the game to bed.

Its all well and good trying to hold on to a slender lead if you have the players to execute a plan of that nature. We Haven't and more often than not pay the price for it.

It's okay parking the bus providing you're set to quickly counter. You need quick players capable of carrying the ball forwards and relieving the pressure or nicking a goal.

Otherwise you'll just be stuck in your half for the rest of the match and the pressure will eventually tell.

If we're going to play 3-5-2, parking the bus will result in a 5-3-2 and we'll have no width going forwards. We won't be able to exploit the space left by their full backs and we'll end up facing a 2-4-4 as they'll have nothing to fear there. I think keeping the pressure on is the best tactic, or otherwise switching to a 4-5-1.

Manage the game by retaining possession and utilising our speed on the counter - what speed I ask myself.
Would love us to have an experienced type of player to sit infront of the back four and dicate come the 60 minute mark. Obvious call out to Hassell -perhaps Mawson could grow into that role although not to the detriment of our central defence as I think he will prove to be an astute signing.

    Depends,

If we're at home i'd like us to go and get another 1 or 2 in quick effect then it relieves a bit of pressure but with out defence i think we'll be a rock.

Away i'd say defend and counter attack, but our counters last season was *****

Very true. Difficult to achieve but hopefully we'll be able to do so

Carrying on playing the way that got you 1 nil up in the first place.

Yeah. Get that. Sometimes the opposition stay with same tactics. So should we.

Just cos we have gone one up shouldn't lead us to panic and park the bus.

We have generally never been good at that.

I'm a big believer of the saying.... they can't score when the ball is in there box or there half
