effort like that every weekend we'd be well up the table.

playing 2 strikers would have helped tonight.

Overall I was extremely pleased with our performance and just hope we can continue to play like that.

I hope we never play like that again

Great effort from the lads but boring tactics that will achieve nowt.

    Jesus christ.

It's not as though we were playing our first choice team and were playing poor opposition. It was only when we got to the final third when we did nowt, a lone striker wasn't going to work if we wanted to score.

    Agree

A lone striker wasn't going to work, which is exactly what I mean.

I thought the side that was picked played well in the formation that Davey set out, but I never want to see us play like that again against first division opposition. It'd bore me to death.

Mostto is too slow to play as lone striker

simple as that. I don't know what our options were though really

i'd settle for us playing like that on saturday. grind out a nil-nil or maybe just get lucky, like stoke last year.

We contained Newcastle well for an hour

So it wasn't a bad tactic on the night. I just don't want to see it in our league games.

Perhaps with someone like Odejayi up there it'd work better?

And more midfield creativity? Sounds like we didn't create much tonight, so in that sense it can't be a great tactic.

Then again, like others have said, to contain a decent (nothing more, despite the Geordie commentators thinking they support the greatest team on the planet) team for 60 minutes, that deserves some credit, and against lesser sides, who knows?

    If we do

Mostto is no good as the lone striker.

    Being a bit harsh

what else was he supposed to do. Mostto was the only striker he could start with. Christensen is blatantly not fit enough to play a full 90 and Coulson is certainly not ready to be thrown in fully. Manager had his hands tied somewhat.
