Watford West Ham and Charlton likely to come down-all would IMHO have a better chance of promotion than us</p> together with Cardiff Soton Coventry Leicester(mandaric) Stoke Wednesday</p> top of the bottom half would be as good as we could hopr for</p>
Wasnt that kind of talk one of the reasons for Ritchies binning? Saying we are unlikely to to the top league ever again.</p> </p>
Paul you sound like Andy Richie lacking in ambition, of course it will be hard but we could with a few additions and some restructuring get mid to top table. We did it before.
Of course it's going to be hard and so it should be. We are in a competition! I would be quite happy in mid table or just above for a period of consolidation. To be honest I think it is going to be very, very hard to compete against teams who are still getting parachute payments from the Premier League. That gives them an unfair financial advantage over Clubs like ours before a ball is kicked.
I'm not a pessimist I'm a realist. And realistically I see this club being a Championship club, not a Championship force yet, a Championship club that can stay in this division, can have a little bit of a pop at a trophy.</p> I see us as hopefully with stability in comparison with a Crewe. You might go down like Crewe have, you might flirt with going up. You might stay midtable a couple of years. You've got to be realistic in what you can achieve in terms of finance and fan base. </p> The fan base we've got is superb as is all the other Yorkshire sides. There's not enough fans to go around. That restricts you financial. </p> The fans have got to be realists as well. We've got smashing resources here in terms of the training facilities. I still feel we've got maybe another 5-6,000 fans in us if we can get a real good run going. I don't think with ticket prices these days you'll hit what you hit in the Premiership that one year. </p> I don't think you'll get to the Premiership. I might be wrong and I hope I am, but I feel it's a Championship side that can consolidate. You might have a little go at it one year and it might just come off for you again but realistically you want to stay in the Championship with a couple of good cup runs.</p>
Whats with the referring to the club as 'you'? 'I don't think you'll get to the Premiership. I might be wrong and I hope I am, but I feel it's a Championship side that can consolidate. You might have a little go at it one year and it might just come off for you again but realistically you want to stay in the Championship with a couple of good cup runs'</p> Just wondering like</p>
RE: Whats with the referring to the club as 'you'? I wondered that, I think it's just the way he speaks. 'You' as a generalisation for others in that situation too. Maybe he was sacked for bad grammar not the content of the article, who knows?
RE: Whats with the referring to the club as 'you'? Was your post that I originally replied to taken from elsewhere? I read it as your opinions hence the question. Apologies
RE: Whats with the referring to the club as 'you'? That makes a lot more sense! Ta for clearing that up for me
15th and i'd be chuffed we have to be realistic, it'll take us a good few years to be able to compete, with a few shrewd signings (ferenczi etc), i think we could then. we have little money and just cannot compete with the parachute payments and things. and also, much as i am unsure about shepherd, he is sorting the money situation well. slow and steady wins the race.
I will just be chuffed to be in the Championship next season. Cant see us being anywhwere near a force for a few years yet. Got to look at consolodating our position in mid table for a couple of seasons before we start thinking of owt more. But the beauty of football is that you just never know. Get lucky with a few signing who turn out to be really good players for us and we may be able to sneak into the play-offs. Realistically though it is about 15th we should be aiming for next season.
