How would people feel towards Davey staying in charge, i know there are the ones who want him to build but is 2 and half seasons enough with what has been continuous relegation fights, or would fans think he would bring the team back into the championship if we went down. It seems that if we are to have a good financial footing for next season then if we end up with either of the above situations then fans will most definetly not buy season tickets, apart from the hardcore of 5000 +however if Cryne shows bottle and recruits new blood then it will at least give optimism. The current situation is one of apathy from many fans, not all but most, and if the club is going to break the cycle of struggle then there needs to be new hope, and that means a new manager, just asking!!
think he's run his course with us and time for barnsley to move on without davey. this is the best squad of players weve had since 2000. all the davey lovers will come on and say who is out there ? i don't know the answer to that 1. never took to davey since day 1 but i will be there long after davey has gone week in week out.
If we go down I think he should and would go. The principle aim has to be to stay in this division. If we just stay up we need to take an 'on balance' view and I can see the arguments either way. I think other fans of other clubs looking in would be very surprised if we sacked him having stayed up. Given the relative strength of this division and size/budgets of other clubs my friends who support other teams think we do well at this level. that said are we making progress if we just stay up, or is prgress staying at this level? To some extent i think the fans who are saying a continued presence at this level is not enough need to be realistic. At the same time if we feel we've plateaued undcer davey then at some point perhaps we make that decision. the consequence of underestimating what we have achieved in the last 4 years could be disasterous. Charlton fans were happy to see Curbishly go as they "couldn't progress any further under him " - look where they are now
RE: If we stay in the Championship I think we will have hit out minimum objective by staying up, but it is still job done. No chance of him going. Maybe, just maybe, if we stick with him it will come good. I am prepared to do that provided we are in the Championship, unless there are decent replacements. I trust PC's judgment on that.
it will be the primary objective and as far as I'm concerned he will have earned a crack at another season. If we are not mid table next season then the managerial position will need to be questioned and I feel it will be time for a change.
"Charlton fans were happy to see Curbishly go as they "couldn't progress any further under him " - look where they are now" That is a great point. That is the worry for me.
How about.. not really bothered either way. Not really keen on the bloke, football largely uninspiring. Apathy. Untll the begging letter comes and then I'll be back. Stronger Together. But not really arsed.
but when Chalton fans were questioning Curbishly they were 7th in the Premier League not 21st in the Championship. There has to be a significant improvement next season.
Only man that matters is P Cryne Who may or may not be influenced by Season Ticket sales etc.
imho a manager needs 3 full seasons at a club to get things going his way. What frustrates the fck out of me about Davey is that we're coming up to his 3rd full season in charge - and it's like groundhog day - still looking over our shoulders at the bottom 3 - and it's due apparently to losing crucial players at crucial times. The excuses must dry up at some stage.
That said - who'd want to come to Barnsley if Davey went ? Because I wouldn't touch the job with a barge pole.

RE: but when Chalton fans were questioning Curbishly they agree completely but that was there level at that time and they felt they needed someone new to kick on
Why does there? survival is all we dare expect or have a right to expect. I told you we could have beaten Brum. If only the manager believed it too...
Correct... and he seem swell and truly convinced. Supporting or detracting on here won't change that either. SD will be here until at least 2012.
For me Paul Ince althouh I don't want to see Davey sacked. Oh I'm not a Davey lover I'm a pragmatist who thinks replacing someone so late in the season would not be a good idea. I'm also old enough to remember when managers got 3 years without many questions being asked not 6 months.
Do you think Paul Ince and Mr Cryne would enjoy the same cordial relationship That Davey does ?
I'd guess at no.

If we go down - he has failed. If we just stay up - he has failed. We didn't spend £1.3m on a striker, bring in Anderson on a permanent and come within in an inch of signing Kevin Philips just to stay up Pat Cryne demanded an improvement and was hoping for a top half or just below finish - if anything we have regressed this season and the football in terms of entertainment is worse than ever. He has to go at the end of the season
