If we were going to sack him it should have been at the end of last season

when there were plenty of out of work managers to choose from and the new manager would have had the whole summer and a decent budget to build his own squad. Now the new manager is going have to work with someone else's players. I'm not particularly saddened to see Davey go, but I think the timing is just stupid. You don't back a manager to anyone who will listen then get rid of him after just 5 more games. Why do we always do things so **** uppity? I despair sometimes.

Completely agree with you Jay, the time to get rid was the end of last season.

    poor leadership from the top.

this week so many people have banged on about cryne's success as a business man and that he'll make the right choice

well he's just fecked that up good and proper.

not by sacking davey, but backing him, letting him spend on players, bring people in on loan deals for a full season, and then sacking him (mutual consent my arse)

this decision should have happened in the summer.

I'm surprised it's come so soon into the season

He was given the job on the back of a 3-0 home reverse to Sheff Wednesday.
I'm surprised we didn't wait for a win and then sack him.

I would be amazed if that happens

He may be a caretaker manager if we havent got a proper one in but I cant see him being given the job to be honest

Unfortunately, SD had very little "good will" amongst the fans

Patrick must have known that if the season got off to a poor start, there would have been a ground-swell of bad feeling from the public. It DID, and there WAS....

agreed the summer was the ideal time to let him go

but unfortunately the way this season has started coupled with our abject home form since christmas made todays decision unavoidable.

    WHo said we've sacked him?

He was in bits after the game/protest by all accounts. Could he not have resigned? Don Rowing didn't sound like he was expecting to be without a manager this evening. Of course if a manager simply resigns he wouldn't get his pay out. Mutual consent therefore...?

Davey said on radio sheffield tonight

that he wouldn't resign. He said he was manager of barnsley football club until someone told him otherwise.

From the post match reaction on the official site:

"I have never given up on anything in my life and I will be fighting to win the next game."

Doesn't sound to me like he was planning on resigning any time soon.

Yes but that was then & now is now. £100 000 might have helped too.

Need to be quick. Window shuts on Tuesday. Can we get somebody in that quick who will be able to get players in that quick? I am not so sure. We desperately need to add some defenders before Tuesday, or we are relying on loans for the new manager until xmas. Who is gonna make any signings in the next few days?
