I genuinely think the next head coach will be British after the last two appointments. Second coming of LJ....
I haven't the foggiest who will the next. Whoever it is needs to be a magician who can work with no budget. But can the board leave him or her alone without interference to get the job done please.
Genuinely curious as to how you've come to that assessment. Not having a go, and I'm of the same mind set that our next Head Coach should be British. However, I've seen nothing from the owners to suggest that it will be. It's going to be another foreign appointment
You have to remember the four main criteria for any of our manager appointments. 1. Must do what the owners say 2. Must have the ability to work with no budget and turn young hungry kids into saleable assets. 3. Must be cheap 4. Must have potential to secure a compensation fee when he/she moves on.
I think after having two of our worst appointments in our entire history in the same season will have put them off. I think they are aware the fanbase they have annoyed would prefer someone who knows the league. I doubt someone from abroad to the level the board would expect to entice would want to come here for third tier Football.
We have to remember that Barnsley FC is an attractive job. What we feel, and the views we hold, won’t be on the radar of coaches globally. I’m the realms of football finances we’re not doing terribly, we have great facilities, a good reputation, and other than this season it’s a great place to develop your career. I don’t know why people are saying there’ll be no budget? If there isn’t, it will mean we’ve kept some of our better players. But the ability to bring players in will be there for whoever has the job next season and they’ll fancy their chances of fighting for the top six. We’ll be inundated with applications.
Well we posted losses of 4.5 million. We are likely to lose a similar sum plus the cost of relegation. We have owners committed to not investing their own money. They have virtually spent all financial reserves. We also have wage cap spending to worry about meaning we are unlikely to be able to keep some players even if we want to. There will be plenty of interest. Though probably little from the U.K. given that we everyone knows recruiting from the U.K. is very unlikely. We will have an ok budget. Nowhere near the probable Big Three of Wednesday/ Sunderland and Derby (if purchased). But you’d expect a lower half top 10 finish based on budget and the remnants of our current team.
the manager will have no budget. The club may buy players though but it won't be a budget held by a manager. I agree there will be a lot of interest.
Of course. But they won't be the final decision maker on how it's spent. Influencer / input yes, budget owner - no. So in an interview if the applicant asks 'do I own a budget and have ulmate responsibility for how its spent?', would they say yes?
Huge influence and in certain situations responsibility for how it is used i.e you could have these three players within budget or these four players within budget. But I feel like you’re being a touch pedantic on this because the use of ‘no budget’ within this thread isn’t around who is the actual owner of it, and more about suggesting us not having a budget to work with.
