They're in big, big trouble. All their players had relegation clauses meaning a pay cut if the club dropped out of the top flight. However, there is no subsequent clause should they drop out of the Championship. Sky Sports are reporting that players currently under contract for the next 12 months commit them to a £25 million annual wage bill next season regardless of division. If that winds up being the third tier with consequent decrease in revenue, they'll struggle to stay afloat. They filed losses of £6.5m this year.
Thing is, plenty of second tier clubs would still take the majority of their under-performing players off their hands. I wouldn't say no to Roger Johnson next season...
Not if he still wants £25k per week!! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...elegated-to-League-One-from-Championship.html
Agree whitey. They have 20/25 players that could find a club in this division or the prem. Hennessey, David Edwards, SEB, Ward, Hunt, Ikeme, Johnson, Berra, O'hara, Hammill, Doyle, De Vries, Foley
It could be a bit tight financial wise, but their best players will be cherry-picked & if the team of what's left are doing well in league one. The crowds will be large. Not that bothered though what happens to them.
It just goes to show what a fcked up shambles the premier league has become. They didn't even have a good PL squad and they are still in debt. The Germans are teaching us a lesson on and off the pitch.
I just picked a few Whitey. That squad last year should never have got relegated last year in my opinion and then they messed it up in summer. If they made the right decision in the summer they should have one up this time.
But will they be willing to take paycuts? Clubs will come in and probably offer them less money to have another chance to play in the championship. But i'd bet a fair few of those you mention will stick with the higher money, play at league 1 level and not give a **** about the money worries of Wolves. It will be like when Gary Kelly played for Leeds at that level on silly money.
True Whitey. I could see why Gary Kelly stayed. He was Leeds through and through and didn't want to play for anyone else in his career. Seth on the otherhand.....
England international... along with Michael Ricketts, Michael Ball, Kevin Davies, Francis Jeffers and Gareth Barry.
Ahhh yes Francis Jeffers.... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/former-rangers-striker-francis-jeffers-1742328
35k a week. For 5 years. Him and his agent were only gonna ask for 20k. Cracking negotiations from P Riddy.
Just spotted this while reading about Jeffers....what a nice chap he is...not! http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/courts
